The Forlorn Introvert

Good day/evening ladies and gentlemen. I have read many forums on how to handle the forlorn watchman quest and none of them has a solution that seems to work. Let me run through all the problems and see if the genius in the shadows-whoever, he and/or she may be- has a new solution.

First, the oblivion game in question is for the Xbox 360, not for PC or PS3 so any potential solutions anyone might have (because I am all out of ideas), will have to be possible on an Xbox 360. Some of the posted solutions I have read are for anything but a 360 version of the game.

I will say what the problem is and then I will tell you everything I have tried in order to fix it. That way, anyone who might have an answer can start with what I have not tried yet.

The problem is that the forlorn watchmen refuses to tell me anything about the Mouth of the Panther when I follow him out to the near shores of Niben Bay. Here is what I have tried in order to fix/get around the problem:

I have tried following him without him knowing. Still quiet.

I have tried following him only after he says "please" to me right after appearing at Bawnwatch Camp. Still quiet.

I have tried following him without him knowing and then waiting for hour upon hour to see if at some point he will talk. Nothing.

I have tried following him without sneaking, then waiting for hour upon hour to see if at some point he will talk. Nothing.

I have tried forgetting about him and just going to the Mouth of the Panther to finish the quest. I killed all the spirits and went through every deck of the Emma May and neither found a key nor a log book. As far as I can tell I can't restart the quest, put in a code to get me farther in the quest or clear the cache. The forlorn watchmen is SUPPOSED to talk to you before you free him so the idea that he doesn't say anything until you free him must be in an other version of the game. I have played this quest before without flaw. The first time I played it, the watchman spoke to me after I followed him, I went to Gilgondorin, I went to the Mouth of the Panther, I freed the watchman and got the treasure. For some reason none of this is working now and if anyone has a solution for the Xbox 360 that isn't anything I have mentioned or has not already been said in the forum regarding this bug, please, lend me your genius!

P.S., I know the treasure isn't that fantastic and you probably want to tell me to just give it up and move on. Well, your right. Unfortunately I don't work that way. It's not about the treasure, it's about the story and I want to finish it as a part of my gameplay.

First, the oblivion game in question is for the Xbox 360

make certain its not a time of day issue

He won't talk to you if dawn is too near.

Ah, good idea. I hadn't thought of that. Unfortunately I always follow him the moment he appears at 8 o'clock. and at the latest I think it is only 10 or 11 o'clock by the time I follow him to where he stares out across Niben Bay. There seem to be too many variables that may effect whether or not this quest works. Although, in the end, I think I may just have to admit that the quest is bugged and there's no fixing it. Thanks for your help!

If anyone else has a solution feel free to bring it forth. I say this in response to the lack of reply to my post but I am assuming I pretty much tried everything anyone could come up with and the problem I am having has no fix at this point.

As this site is dedicated to mods for the PC version, most of our members are not very familiar with any of the problems on other platforms. Hopefully one will have a viable idea. If not, you may try asking on some of the forums that do have more xbox players. The official forums might be a good place.
