followers dont give follower dialog anymore

i have been playing for a while and then suddenly all potential followers in the game vanilla and modded ones will not give any recruitment dialog. also some potential followers that require a brawl to unlock that will bug out and go hostile during the brawl. nothing changed between when it worked and when things broke and i havent a clue what would cause it (dont know how the system works really so its a bit harder to troubleshoot)

is there a way to get an output? im running nearly 240 mods i dont have time over the weekend but if there is a way to get an output i might be able to get it posted between tomorrow and monday

Go to users/username/appdata/local/skyrim

there should be a file called loadorder there, open it with notepad++ and copy paste.

this list is from the app data location. for some reason there are inactive mods on this list. it seems skyrim is not managing this list properly anymore as i saw a few mods that are not in the list that i had to add.

Hi

 

This is a common problem usually caused by conflicts between multiple follower mods. It sometimes can be caused by custom voiced follows & follows with bad code as well.

 

I use UFO & MHIYH, it my take up 3 to 7 tries to get a follower to respond in my game. I use this as a feature.

 

I use Tania the Hermit as well. she & Vilja are the only custom voiced followers that I have tested that don't cause that problem with my setup.

 

Getting rid of the problem is easy. Uncheck MHIYM load the game & test. Uncheck a follower load the game & test. If you don't save, no harm done.

 

I would start with Tania. Check Elwyn last. All the followers from that author are solid. Toccata is a bit goofy, but she has never caused a problem in my game.

 

Also, there is a reason why mods like UFO & AFT have so many endorsements. They are not perfect but still the way to go for now.
