Creating architecture?

I'm sorry if this isn't the place, but I'm kind of lost here. I'm trying to use the game's vanilla resources to create custom architecture, piece by piece, until It's the shape I want it. Does anyone have any idea how I would go about doing this? The only thing I see in the CK is pre-built houses, towers, walls, etc.

I was thinking that maybe I might need to deconstruct these pre-built set pieces in nifskope and then reconstruct them in nifskope, kind of like legos? Am I on the right track?

Thanks.

What I usually do if I want to edit meshes like that, as you can see with my mod Tel Nalta II is the following:

-Open a mesh in MAX3DS, then edit it and adjust the UV mapping(texture placement) as well.

-Export that new mesh as a .nif file.

-Copy the NiTriShapeData from you exported .nif file to the original .nif file in Nifskope, but make sure you don't edit the original .nif directly but rather make of copy of that one first, this way you avoid editing original assets.

-Change some more settings in Nifskope to make the object appear good in-game.

-Once that is all done you need to delete certain parts in Nifskope so you basically have an empty .nif file that only contains the NiTriShapeData in it, save this under a new name, this will become your collision.

-Now you use "ChunkMerge" to merge your first .nif file with your collision .nif file.

-The end, you have a new mesh with collision attached to it.

Of course this is a simple explanation only detailing it in a few steps, but there is so much more that comes into play that you need to understand before this is possible, such as which settings you need to change in Nifskope for example.

Not sure what you mean but outside houses are a mesh made in 3D, interiors work like lego. You could probably use interior meshes to build an outside though...

Basically I am trying to create a gothic cathedral type building with only 1 room, so in order to build it, I need to split apart the pieces from other meshes, such as flooring, walls, windows, roofing, etc and reassemble them into the shape that I need

Thank you for the detailed explanation, it sounds pretty complex, but I think I can work it out if I read this over and over as I do it and google steps in between

Is there any other advice you could give me about this? I'm thinking that with cutting these things up and putting them back together in a new shape, textures might become a big issue, unless I can just fix them up in photoshop and stick them back on, but I'd gamble it wouldn't be that simple

I could give you more info, but for that you really need to meet me on Skype and you also need to have a microphone as well or otherwise we cannot talk.

But most importantly, you need to have MAX3DS 2012 since that is the program I am using, if you are using a different mesh editing program then I will most likely not be able to help you.

Send me a PM if you want to do that Skype thing.
