I got it (Hoots) originally for some old site when I was younger, I was (still am mostly) a night Owl so it seemed to fit, one of my school mascots was also an Owl. Folks thought I liked the restaurant Hooters (its OK) or the female anatomy (not that I don’t like). Had to add the 7 to it for another site so it’s been Hoots7 for a while know.

It seems good for me being some what environmentally conscious (“Give a hoot, don’t pollute”) I try to give a hoot about people also & help out when I can.

My name is Dan.

My parents (and older siblings) used to give me crap about how when i was learning to talk.

I'd pronounce my name 'Daniel' like "Dang-Gule". They shortened it to Dangle because they like me a lot :)

I don't regularly go by Dangle, but most other variations of Dan were taken :)

Before I started online gaming I used names like Kareg or Karg when usually playing Unreal Tournament 99 (I was between 8-11 when I used those names). Back when I started online gaming (I was 12 then) I never had a "perfect" username. I had names like FrozenDeath on Halo PC, HellKnight on Deus Ex, etc. Obviously Hellknight is inspired from Doom 3, that time it wasent released yet just an anticipated game. When I played Deus Ex under HellKnight once I used a killswitch and got banned from the server I was playing on. When they rebooted, I changed my name to DeathKnight so they wouldnt notice. It worked, they let me stay. DeathKnight is my usual username. DeathWarrior was used when a friend at my high school (I was 15 then) recommended me to a forum. DeathKnight was already taken so I used DeathWarrior. For those too lazy to look Im 16 now and I'll be 17 on December 31st, 2007 and I so far use the following names: DeathWarrior (various areas including this forum), DeathKnight (almost everywhere else and most commonly on non-rpg games), Krodan (Oblivion). Krodann Borgir (Dark Age Of Camelot), Kordin Hellfire (Guild Wars), ZergKiller (Planetside), DeathKnightUS/CH (Battlefield 2), and DeathKnightPAC (Battlefield 2142).

How do you remember all those? I usually just use variations of The_Terminator, sometimes with 2004 or 04 at the end, where necessary. Why The_Terminator? Because I was playing Unreal Tournament with some friends over a LAN, and decided I needed a better name than Alex. Why 2004? Because my email has 2004 in it, because I needed a number, and that just happened to be the year I made it.

As you can see, I'm Rifleman Joe. It all started back in the Beta of Battlefield 1942, when I was brand new to the world of online gaming. I had used to go by unoriginal names like "Razorback". So one day I decided I wanted a name that was completely original. I don't know what I was doing or thinking when I created Rifleman Joe, but once I went into the Beta and for some reason did noticably better (I actually started winning sorta :P) I then deemed this as my lucky screen name and have used it in everything from games to forums to email and all other assorted things. So if you one day see me playing Halo 3 (my xbox live tag is, you guessed it, Rifleman Joe) or Battlefield 2142, you know who it is.

Teh End

  • 4 months later...

With all the new members joining lately, I thought it would be nice to get this thread back! :)

I also fixed the link to the first thread, which is really old. There I still spelled 'I' as 'i'. Perhaps I shouldn't have fixed it after all.

(I was still doing that at the start of this thread too I see now!)

Very well, I shall go first. My name comes from an obsession with Queen and Johnny Cash. Freddy Mercury (Lead Singer of Queen) + Johnny Cash (If you have to ask who that is, Chuck Norris will kill you) = freddycashmercury. Yeah. Not that great a story, really.
