Recommended Posts

When I start my main computer where all my games are it says that BootGMR is missing but when I place the windows 7 cd it still doesn't sart and I don's have a boot cd. I have a laptop but I may not install games on that one.

Does anyone know how to solve this.

Thanks for advanced.

I think the order of your boot devices is wrong, did you change any hardware or add a new hard-disk?

You need to go into the bios and go the boot tab.

From there go to the boot order and select the harddrive that has windows on it as primary boot device.

If your bios does not detect the hardrive something is wrong with it.

Yes I formated the hard drive and I accidently removed the BootGMR file.

Put your Windows CD in and boot from that (change your BIOS setting to boot from CD/DVD first). Open the Repair/Recovery console (not sure what it's called in 7, it's something like that). I don't know if it will fix the problem automatically....but I think it's just like XP when it comes to that. Let the repair thing load up and when it's done type fixboot and restart.

Had the issue before in Windows XP. A virus on my sister's and friend's computer deleted the bootmgr file  Evil little stinkers I tells ya.
