Getting a new Graphics Card...

Recommended Posts

Not a bad choice. I've heard good things about the E6300 model CPU. You can overclock it and get pretty much as much performance as you can from one of AMD's FX65 processors (according to PC Gamer at least). Even without that it still sounds like it has a lot of bang for your buck.

The only thing I would say is, be absolutely sure that that PSU you're getting is a good one. The site you're using doesn't seem to have a review system or anything... I would say maybe go for a decent 600w instead. PSUs can be the downfall of a good rig (literally... my last PC almost caught on fire because I was using a rubbishy one).

core 2 duos are the best, and you might not even need to overclock that one. another plus is 65nm drains less power. regarding the power supply, i know x1900's take somewhere around 30 amps at 12v...that is ALOT. he's not kidding when he said make sure it is a good one. if you don't have enough power, your video card will give hardcore display problems, and eventually your computer will just shut down.

possibly very bad news for you, i just checked on newegg, and it shows for your PSU, "Antec Basiq 500w" power supply, that it has 18A on the 12v rail. that sounds like you are likely going to have a severe power shortage for your video card.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...82E16817371004- this is the link to the PSU, check it for yourself

hate to be a bearer of bad news... :(

It's only bad news if he's already ordered.

Which I haven't. I will probably buy it near my birthday (mid January)

Edit: I think it's okay. Lord Athanar posted this on the official forums, after I showed him your message:

No, it has 2x12v rails, 18A on each, which is more than enough.

So that's 36A. Which means I'm fine. ;)
