Morrowind Wish List

Okay - here's my wish list

Character class differences - they only effect anything at the beginning of the game. A fighter to start can still become the greatest spellcaster the world has ever seen, and mages can be the greatest fighters....

More realistic armor effects - Chain-based is great against cutting and slashing weapons, but maces were why plate armor was invented. Chain is practically useless against crushing damage.

More classic monsters - enough with all of the bug-like creatures! (everything seems to have two or six legs) I want trolls, wolves (though I haven't really gotten into bloodmoon yet)

More realistic encumbrance - okay, how many swords, axes, suits of armor, etc am I carrying? I've got my strength modified to 300, so I can carry 1500 units of weight - that's like the equivalent of 30 sets of heavy armor.

More complex "minor" quests - how about having books that hint at items that you can look for, and quests that require you to find information that leads to another place, where you find a dead end, but you find information on another place....

Harder to learn Spells - why is it that a low level character can learn the harder fireball spells without knowing the base fireball spell first? I like lists, where you need to learn the lower level spells before you can learn the higher levels.

I know there are a lot of things out there in mods, and I have some of them. But, as this is a wish list, I believe that these aren't covered.

Pack Rat - there is a Japanes house mod out there that I highly recommend - it's beautiful and has a full set of samurai armor in it. I have thought about doing a japanese city, (I actually need to if I get my TC going), but am not a modeler. There are also more races available, and you can actually make your own using the TESCS.

Xionith - you can adjust your speed, though it might be considered cheating.....

Yah that would be cheating, I never really explored that aspect of Morrowind (I havn't even beaten it yet....). But I agree with you guys, NPC's that sort of followed a real-life pattern (instead of standing in the same place for eternity) would really cool. When I first started I got to Balmora at like 2:00 in the morning and Caius (spelling...) wasn't in the tavern (a man had told me he was) so I figured Hey its 2 in the morning, but then I figured out that NPC's kind of sleep walked, and had a set position :( (a dissapointment, but I got over it quickly after I realized the true potential of the game). Also, (as we have already discovered, was in the 'original' version of the game from some screenshots) if on the transportation you could 'live it'. Such as on the boats etc. Instead of just saying 'loading exterior' and skipping a large sequence. Although if you wanted you could just wait it out, but still I think the ships could be cool. :)

I agree. I'd be interesting to watch the world of Morrowind pass you by as you travel from place to place on a silt strider, boat, etc. That's definately an option I'd like to see.

I'd rather get to the game. Instead of waiting out load times for sequences on silt striders and boats, I'd rather be playing.

A possibility for the silt strider and boat travel:

While traversing the lands on a boat or silt strider, there could be the possibility of attack. Defend the strider against a flock of those flying things! Save the boat from those swimming things! If you didn't defeat the enemies fast enough, the silt strider could die, or the boat could sink. Then you'd be stranded in the middle of nowhere. Ooooooo.

Please do not wish for more cliff racers!

I like the idea of a few quests with puzzles in. But ones that you can answer without needing an IQ of 200 plus.

But I suppose I could design my own...

I believe the reason they cut that out is because it bugged too much. NPCs hovered in mid air, and all sorts of cr@ppy glitchy stuff happened. Though technology has advanced since then so maybe it's possible now? That would be sweet. :D

About realism issues, swimming should be totally reworked: you shouldn't be capable of swimming with a full suit of armor on, rather you should sink hopelessly.

Also, you should be allowed to do what NPCs can do, namely issue orders to lower ranked people: one of my PCs is a mage and Mouth of Master Aryon, I should be able to ask hirelings to do chores for me, maybe selecting them from my unfinished quests, and reward them as the other Mouths rewarded me in the past. I'd like also the possibility to ask the Morag Tong to kill anyone, as far as their rules allow obviously.

NPCs should react to my actions on a large scale. If I start killing House Hlaalu members they should chase me down to kill me; on the other hand I could wipe them out of Vvardenfell and this should have lasting consequences. As a side note, how comes the guards respawn? I mean, how can it be explained in game? Are they grown in a farm?

I also agree with this...if you have a full set of ebony armor or anything heavy...it should make you sink...and then resulting in drowning...not just swimming slower...like honestly people!!!
