Alehnblivion
Hey guys, please, help me! I have completely followed the instructions, but I can't launch the program!!!!! I have done a lot of attempts!!!!! I need Wrye Bash just for updating my game saves (created in the original Oblivion) for using them in the Oscuro's Mod 1.33. Probably explaining me all the procedures would be difficult, so... I have an idea: I could give one of my saves to one of you who has Wrye Bash installed, so that this person could update the file for me and re-send me it.Then, I'll probably make a statue of this person! AH1
I had a similar problem when I first started using WB. You have to make sure that WyreBash and Python.exe are all running as administrator in the compatibility tab if you are using Windows 7 or Windows Vista. Also, try posting a bug dump (instructions are in the WB readme) so that perhaps we can see what problem you are having exactly.
Alehnblivion
Thank you for the kind help. The problem is that I can't be 100% sure I have not committed a mistake during the various operations. There is a thing I don't understand: some guides say that it is also necessary to edit a file.ini , while others don't.Do you think it would be impossible uploading one of my game saves and let someone else updating it? AH1
Having someone else do it for you doesn't help you later on. Everyone needs help now and again, I've had to ask for help for my load order a few times for instance. But if you don't try to learn to understand the problem yourself, it might cause problems later on that no one can help fix because you yourself won't be able to express what is going on since you didn't have any control over the process. Not to mention that a system might not be the same or be running the same mods as yours, so it might cause more problems. WyreBash is a mean beast, for sure, but once you get it working, it is pretty stable, and it is almost an indispensable Oblivion tool. If you are worried about possibly committing a mistake, and it may be that you have, then you should uninstall WryeBash and Python and reinstall them following the WB readme installation guide:http://wryemusings.com/Wrye%20Bash.html#Installation In short, you have to download WyrePython and WyreBash, which are available here at TESNexus:http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22368 Make sure you install everything as an administrator, and you follow the installation guide to the letter. After installing, set any .exe file that is installed (such as Python) to run as administrator. Don't worry, you'll get it. It took me two reinstalls before I first got WB working a long time ago when I first started. It just takes a little patience and a few minutes to slow down and read the instructions. I also recommend installing BOSS to aid in your load order sorting if you haven't already.
Hickory
Thank you for the kind help. The problem is that I can't be 100% sure I have not committed a mistake during the various operations. There is a thing I don't understand: some guides say that it is also necessary to edit a file.ini , while others don't.Do you think it would be impossible uploading one of my game saves and let someone else updating it? Now is the perfect time to learn. If you need Wrye Bash (and if you play Oblivion you do), then you need to learn how to install and use it. Please follow these instructions and help yourself:Installing Wrye Bash by Smooth613: You need to install v287 then 290 as certain files needed by 290 are in previous archives. Upon reinstalltion you need to ensure you properly install Wrye Bash and the Python Libraries. Proper procedure is as follows. * Go to Control Panel and remove anything with the word Python in it. * Next, uninstall Wrye Bash and delete the Mopy folder. If you used the installer version you should have an uninstaller as well. * After you have removed everything related to Python and Wrye Bash it's time to reinstall, properly. * Install WryePython03a from the Wrye Bash page here on TESNexus * Install Wrye Bash 275 from the Self-Installer * Update to Wrye Bash 287 by overwriting the Oblivion\Mopy folder. * Finally, Update to Wrye Bash 290 by again overwriting the Mopy folder. * Go to your Oblivion Mopy folder and create a shortcut for Wrye Bash Launcher.pyw and send to desktop. * You're done! Double click the shortcut and Wrye Bash should launch and you're good to go. Wrye Bash v291 will be released as a full Self-Installer version and will eliminate many of the above steps. It's currently in BETA and it's working very well, I've had virtually no problems with v291. The full release to the public should happen in the near future so keep your eyes open for it. The Wrye Bash Pictorial Guide for Newbies is also and excellent way to get your hands dirty with Wrye Bash. Check it out! If Wrye Bash fails to start or you are still having issues, you need to post the bug dump information here or in the Official Thread @ BethSoft for someone to look over. Good luck! Ichiurto
I'm guessing you have Auto-Quit on in Wrye Bash, which makes the program quit when you launch Oblivion. The problem? Wrye Bash doesn't delete pidfile.tmp upon Auto-quitting, which makes the program think it's still running. Go into your Mopy folder and see if the file is there, if it is, delete it and try and launch Wrye Bash again.
Alehnblivion
Guys, thank you very very much for your kind help: it is really difficult to find this kind of support. So... you are special and competent :-D My operating system is windows xp service pack 3.Oblivion has this path: F(Games):\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion I have downloaded all' the files at TESNEXUS: Phyton 03a, Wrye Bash 275 auto installer, Wrye Bash 287 and Wrye Bash 290. First step: installation of Phyton 03a (I have used the default installation paths). Maybe there's an error here, because I have choosen "All users" in the setup menu. Second step: installation of Wrye Bash 275 (in order to have the Data and Mopy folders of Wrye Bash 275 in F:\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion. The strange thing here is that the Data folder from Wrye doesn't seem to overwrite the Data folder in Oblivion). However, thanks to this operation, a Mopy folder appears into the Oblivion folder. Third step: decompression of the archive containing Wrye Bash 287 into an occasional folder. Copied the Mopy folder contained in this occasional folder (only the Mopy, even if there was also a Data folder) and pasted it in the Oblivion folder (in order to overwrite the previous Mopy). Fourth step: decompression of the archive containing Wrye Bash 290 into an occasional folder 2. Copied the Mopy folder contained in this occasional folder 2 (only the Mopy, even if there was also a Data folder) and pasted it in the Oblivion folder (in order to overwrite the previous Mopy). Fifth step: double click on the launch Wrye file contained in the final Mopy in F(Games):\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion. Thanks very much! P.S.: there's no pidfile.tmp into my Mopy folder. Thanks very much! Can people assume that your problem is solved, then? Oh sorry, just a little detail: it is not solved!I have just described what I have done.in your opinion, are these my procedures correct? What do you think about:1) The fact that I have installed the Phyton package as "all users";2) The fact that I have used only the Mopy folders from 287 and 290, completely ignoring the Data ones.3) The fact that someone can install and launch Wrye Bash correctly without installing 275.Thanks.P.S.: I am Italian, so... sorry if I occasionally use an hybrid Italian-English :D Edited January 16, 2011 by Alehnblivion

That shouldn't be an issue.2. No, you need to extract the entire archives to your \Oblivion\ folder -- Wrye Bash expects and needs them.3. The 2.75 is the main installer, which seeds Wrye Bash with the correct files and folders (and contents). The others are updates. Your English is good.
