Crashing no matter what

I don't get it. Not matter what I do, my FO3 game crashes after about 10 minutes. I'm doing everything possible under the fallout sun to make it run good, but nothing seems to help. I'm using the multicore mod, stutter remover, better performance mod, LOOT, BOSS, FO3Edit, Fake windowed mod. I've got 1.3 gb video ram, i defrag the game. Got rid of FPS sucking mods like project reality, UHQ, and Flora mod. I've tried adjusting the load order myself. I even said a prayer, but nothing helps. Is this just the norm? Cuz if it is...screw it man, I'm done with this. I mean...I don't get it. I can run today's latest games no problem, but not this piece of junk from 08.

My main mods are Unofficial Patch, FWE, MMM, EVE, Fellout, Realistic Lighting, Enhance Blood, NMC (performance), Blackend, etc blah blah blah. I've watched all of Gopher's out dated tutorials, I even paradoxed mods to cut down on esp files. The rest are just location mods like DC interiors and then clothing mods. My texture file isn't even that bloated. I even trimmed down the amount of mods I'm running. NOTHING is helping. I got nothing else to cut from the game except to play it vanilla. I've done that...

The only thing I can think, is that it's all related to load order and mods conflicting with each other, but I don't see how, especially with a merged patch. Anyway, I'm just venting and am simply exhausted from tinkering with this stuff for a month now. I just want to play the game already. I give up. I don't even think if I went out and bought todays latest gpu, that it would help. Meh...

I'm using the multicore mod...

What do you mean with that? Which multicore mod?

The two most important things for stability in my game are:

1. Using a 4GB patcher (NTCore's in my case, but there are several variants, all doing the same thing).

2. Having:

bUseThreadedAI=1
iNumHWThreads=2
in Fallout.ini under [General]
Using those, I can pretty much throw anything at the game and it's still very stable (although I do have the occasional CTD, especially with high level characters in intense outdoor areas).

Ok, I got it. Now what? I'm doing a clean install right now . Thought I might just test a few mods out at a time. I'm also going to try running the game without FSR. I have a bad feeling about it.

Thanks for taking an interest.

when your done installing the game use the program to see what the true version information shows.

Because I know of a way to fix things for the better based on the data flowing here, current mods, and structures mods were built on.

what takes place is internal structure repairs with out touching all the plugin's them selves.

the methods are old and true. If you have altered the engine in any way ,then it won't work.

you can do what you want later.

let me ask you this: do you know what and why the company made a patching program and what it does?

Probably not, but I can show you.

Hey Ark,

This multi core mod. I've since removed it. Trying something different. Haha...not using it. I understand the occasional CTD. That's a given with this game, but mine happen like clock work it seems. I'll make sure those adjustments are set in my ini file. Pretty sure they are. Maybe it's the amount of mods I've got running. On average, I'm pushing 150. Most of them are small things though. Like your little (awesome) tweak mods. This is really discouraging, because I've got a pretty good comp. Intel® Core i7-2600K CPU @ 3.40GHz , 16 gb ram, alienware. My vid card is temp until I can afford a new one. My old one kicked the bucket, so I'm stuck using a GeForce GTX 570 until I get something better. My comp isn't the issue though...it can't be. Not after trimming all the fat from these mods.

Hmmm...didn't post my link to the mod. Anyway, it's on the main nexus page as one of the mods of the month.

Ah, you mean Fallout Multi-Core Setup and Modification with 4GB LAA use with FOSE supports all NMC. Well, that seems to basically be 4GB patching plus the ini tweak I mentioned plus optionally using ENBoost. One thing I'd be a bit wary about is ini tweaking beyond minor ones such as threaded AI and bInvalidateOlderFiles. So you might want to try to go back to vanilla settings except for those ones - and then tweak a setting at a time while checking that the game still is stable. There's nothing as frustrating as an unstable game IMO - takes away all fun from playing.

@Mystic Arts: I have the same version of FO3 that everyone else on STEAM has. it's the goty edition too. Not sure what my version of the game has to do with this...

yeah i know, but hummer me ,back up the current one you have...make a copy of it and stash it out of harms way.

If you were sure of any thing, you would not be here. right?

two things can go wrong with the equipment mentioned, one of them is graphics related only not in the way you think...OF 1 of them there is a workaround temporary fix file available for that chip set...but IT only works if the the cards work with the chips set...if the data the card uses does not match the machines needs, then the work around will not work as intended.

for each and every outcome there stands a result...the results tell a story ,and a direction.

in order to determine that direction ,I need information to view it. You need to know why things don't work...is this not correct?

I'll return when things calm down a bit.

Hey again Ark,

Yeah, I was thinking maybe some of the settings in his mod were messing with my set-up. I just re-installed everything and am loading up my mods now. I use the Unofficial Updated Patch. I have those two ini settings in place. I use the same 4 gig patch that you're using. The only other ini settings I plan on doing are the street light mod recommended settings. I don't get any performance issues (FPS drops) with them, and the Flora mod grass settings 40 and 6. However, I'm not even going to install Flora right now just to see if that helps too. At this point I'm just adding a few mods at a time and running the game to see how it's handling things. Thanks for the advice man.

Let me ask yo this...Do you use FSR, and or Fake Windowed mod?
