Tail stretch/break graphics glitch

So there's a part in this mods quest line where the tail breaks off and gets stuck in the air, but it's stretched. When I move my character the hanging tail thing also moves around, but it's horribly stretched. If I leave the area, it still shows up as a thin line a bit away from my char, stretching back to the spot no matter where in the world I go...

I've tried replacing the skeleton.nif things, loading/saving, changing areas, changing races to a non tailed char before/after the quest, doing the quest as a non tailed char, replacing the tail.nif file, and doing like everything else I could think of or find via google.

So.. Is there a way to reset the character frame after this happens? Or any other way to fix it?

If not, is there a way to advance a mods quest and still get recognition for it? The only thing I know is the "caqs" line for the console, but that didn't work. Also note that this stage of the quest is what triggers the first quest prompt to get it into my journal, so there's no way to have it active without breaking my characters tail, which is apparently permanent...

Any advice or suggestions at all are welcome... Maybe a way to bypass it in the construction set, or a way to initiate the quest/skip that first part, or anything at all. This is a super annoying bug, and I run into it all the time randomly and just load, but now it's not random, and there's no way to do the quest without it happening....

What mod are you using that has the messed-up quest line? A person could open up the CS and see what console codes could be used to bypass the trouble point.

It sounds like a buggy badly-made mod. The mod should either work flawlessly with the vanilla Oblivion skeleton, or specify in the documentation exactly what mod you have to use to get which skeleton and where to download that mod from.
