chaospearl
As the title says: Streamline won't initialize no matter what I do. It's version 3.1 beta, and I do have the hotfix patch. The readme says this might happen if it isn't installed properly, but I've checked, double-checked, triple-checked, and can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. The Streamline folder is in my Oblivion\Data directory. The esp is with all my other esps in the same directory. Last time I had this problem it turned out that the mod wants that Streamline ini file to be in the Streamline folder proper -- not in a folder within that folder, and not in the Data directory. It had to be in the Streamline folder itself or it wouldn't initialize, which is contrary to what the readme states. That being said, it won't work now no matter where I put the ini. In a fit of frustration I copied the ini file and put copies of it everywhere I could think of:C:\Oblivion\DataC:\Oblivion\Data\Streamlinein every folder within C:\Oblivion\Data\Streamline (there are four folders)C:\Oblivion\Data\iniC:\Oblivion\Data\INI Tweaks I even put some copies directly in C:\ and in my Windows folder for the heck of it. The mod still won't initialize. The esp shows up properly in OBMM and Wrye, and it is definitely checked off, just like every other esp, but the game acts like it isn't there at all. I also tried totally removing the mod and all its related files, making a clean save, and reinstalling it. I tried downloading a new copy of the mod archive in case mine was somehow corrupted. Tried using the original esp (instead of the hotfix \ patch esp) just in case. I'm tearing my hair out here. Any advice? I have the sneaking feeling I've missed something blatantly obvious and I'm just not seeing it. I've checked the readme so many times I think I'll see it in my sleep tonight. Edit: I do have OBSE installed, version 0019b. Other mods which require OBSE are working fine. Edit: I use BOSS to sort my load order, but just in case, I tried moving the Streamline esp to be the very last mod in my LO. Also tried moving it above the bashed patch, and also tried moving it to be the very first mod (after the esm's). None of those attempts worked, so when I was finished messing around, I put it back where BOSS directed.
Zetsuboketti
You did not mention in your post if you had OBSE installed or not, but OBSE is necessary for Streamline to function correctly.
chaospearl
Yes, OBSE is installed and running. I have a whole bunch of other mods that won't work without it, and they're functioning just fine. This is making me crazy. :( Is it possible that Streamline will only work with the version of OBSE that was used to create it? I upgraded my OBSE to the latest release only very recently. I'll try switching back to v18 and see if that works.
Hickory
Streamline witll work with OBSE 0.9b or higher. The 3.1 Beta requires the 3.1 patch, and you just need to place the esp and Streamline folder into your \Oblivion\Data\ folder.

The 3.1 Beta requires the 3.1 patch, and you just need to place the esp and Streamline folder into your \Oblivion\Data\ folder. That's what I thought... but, um, I did that. It isn't working. :( I've checked this back and forth and upside down. The Streamline folder IS in Oblivion\Data. So is the patch esp. And it's checked properly in OBMM and Bash. It still won't initialize. I can't figure out what the hell is wrong because I've used Streamline in the past without trouble.
Hickory
I can't figure out what the hell is wrong because I've used Streamline in the past without trouble. From the readme: 2) If you have used Streamline before, remove the ESP file in your \data directory, and the \Streamline folder in the same directory. The old esp and folder contents no longer apply with v3.1 of the mod. Some of the old sl.ini settings may still apply with v3.1, so you can keep a copy of that file to refer to if you like, but do not use it with the new ESP. chaospearl
When I said that I've used Streamline in the past, I didn't mean in this game. I lost my computer's hard drive a few months ago and have since reinstalled everything. I haven't gotten Streamline to work ever since. Hickory, I want to say that I really appreciate your efforts in helping me solve this problem! Not only this one, but for the help you've given me in the past, too. You're one of the few people who always seems to respond every time I have a problem and you almost always have great advice. I've never thanked you directly and I should have. That being said, it would probably be easier in this particular situation if you could go ahead and re-read my original post in the thread? I outlined all the steps I've taken and things I've tried, and maybe you'll spot something I missed or didn't try. I keep thinking I must have missed something stupid or obvious. Unfotunately removing all the Streamline files\folders completely and then installing it again is one of the things I already tried which didn't solve the problem. I absolutely mean no disrespect, it's just that I don't want you to waste your time reinventing the wheel, so to speak, by suggesting things I've already tried. Thank you again for your help! Hickory
Actually it was necessary for me to go back and read your original post fully, because the first time around when I got to: "I even put some copies directly in C:\ and in my Windows folder for the heck of it.", I shook my head in incredulity and stopped reading. Imagine that!? For the purpose of this issue, I went and downloaded Streamline and the patch. I extracted the archive with 7zip, rather than running the executable, and extracted 3.1 and then the patch to my \Oblivion\Data\ folder. I ran the game without tweaking anything, and Streamline initialized immediately. I would like to help you, but without being able to duplicate your problem, not placing ini files all over my hard drive notwithstanding, I am at a loss. chaospearl
, I shook my head in incredulity and stopped reading. Imagine that!? LOL Yeah, I know there's absolutely no possible way that the Windows folder has anything to do with Oblivion. I meant it as an exaggeration, indicating that I really had tried absolutely *everything*, as opposed to literally believing it might help. Although at this point, I'm ready to try pretty much anything anyone suggests, regardless of how absurd! When you have eliminated the impossible... etc. I still don't know why Streamline hates me. I'm going to completely remove all the Streamline folders and files (again), let the matter sit for a couple of days, and try reinstalling it again when I'm not so frustrated. I'm sure whatever the problem is, it's something I've been staring right at and just not seeing.
Zetsuboketti
It might not help, but post your load order (if possible in spoiler tags) to see if someone can identify a potential conflict. Although I can't think of any mods that could contradict Streamline to the point of not even initializing, if Streamline is installed correctly and OBSE is functioning as it should, I can't think of another cause other than some sort of conflict.
