Shidentora
A month ago I had problems with the game non stop crashing upon trying to enter the Super Duper Mart.Tired and frustrated of all the time wasted on efforts to cure that, I just let it be and went to do other things in my free time. Now I am back to FO3, and am using CASM save mod. It is very good. I have also copied/pasted those two lines from the text on FWE in my Fallout.ini to prevent the multicore problem this game has. OK. But now, I have other problem. My FPS (Frames per second) gets awfully low during combat and sometimes while exploring the wastes. WHAT IS WRONG? My PC is not bad, both of my hard drives are half empty and I am using just a handful of mods, Broken Steel and Point Lookout. Earlier, I used dozens of mods and all DLCs and the game went smoothly, even when some 10 actors fought at the same place (MMM increased spawns). My machine is not overheating. Is it the CASM save interval? Does someone have an advice? Apart from forgetting about FO3, which is ABSOLUTELY out of question? Here are my machine specs. It's a Laptop. CPU make&model:Intel® Core 2 Duo CPUT6400 @3.00GHz CPU speed and installed memory: 2.00 GHz 3.00 GB of RAM Edited January 18, 2011 by Shidentora
jcdenton2012
It sounds like your laptop is trying to process a heavy load and its slowing down your game. Alternatively, it could be your video card. Fallout 3 is nefarious for frying video cards. Your best bet is to take your laptop to GEEK squad and have them run a scan on it to find the route of the problem. However, that costs money so screw it. Um, by chance do you have Jaspersky installed. I once had a problem where it slowed down my game and caused it crash. Also, if you have the game set up to auto save every time you pass through cells then check your memory because this could also cause problems. Shidentora
Thanks, God, finally someone offered a solution.Do you mean "Kaspersky", fren? I don't have kaspersky. Neither this Jaspersky thingie.Well, it costs some bucks to visit the GEEK squad, but I'll do it anyway. It's a machine after all, right? So it also needs an overhaul, say on a a yearly basis. As for the problems, I ain't kiddin'. A month ago, the FPS went along just fine, but I had constant crashes. Now, apart from my Patch 1.7 and other stuff I have GFWL Disabler, CASM and the unofficial Falout 3 patch (it is supposed to work along with any FO3 above 1.1, if I remember correctly). Minimum crashes and tons of lags. A VATS scene a week ago lasted for some FIVE MINUTES. Hey, five minutes. Any other ideas? Kudos to u for help anyway. bben46
After fixing several computers that friends an relatives took to the local Geek Squad I cannot NOT recommend them enough. One took a laptop in with a power supply problem. They got it back 6 weeks later with the hard drive reformatted and the power supply still not charging. I replaced the power supply connector and it still works. Basicly what they do to clean your computer is run a series of commonly available antivirus programs, anti spyware programs, a registry cleaner and a defrag. Or if they are in a hurry just reformat and maybe reinstall the operating system and any junkware the computer came with. I have heard that they will sometimes charge extra to reinstall the operating system. Stephanebx
The most importants things to do first is a Defrag and Scandisk. An up-to-date anti-spyware and anti-virus is a plus. Verify your hard drive free space. if it is almost full, it can slowdown your applications.
Shidentora
Latest FPS problem development:I have disabled CASM and installed FWE. FO3 Edit showed no problems, the game started at normal speed. The FPS was better while exploring, but it lagged awfully during combat and when there is a lot of stuff goin' on (like multiple fires burning).Seeing this, I have uninstalled all the mods and the game. Will reinstall it this week, but before that will do this: run antivirus, restart, run defrag, restart, run cc cleaner, restart, turn off all the background programs including the antivirus, unplug the web cable and reinstall the whole shebang. ALSO, before this installation of CASM it never happened to me that my game lags, except just a little when some major explosion (nuclear) occurs. Now, even out of combat, the game just lags sometimes and the music also lags. When it lags like this, sometimes it just turns off and the writing "unexpected error ocurred" appears. Maybe it is a mistake during installation? I don't know. I have always installed my FO3 and my mods without turning off the antivirus and I have created the FWE fomod as "create from folder" and not as "add fomod". Or maybe the RAM needs some kind of maintenance? Could lagging be because of this? There was another weird thingie. In the Graphics Adapter window of the FOMM, the only possibility (Radeon in my case) was in grey (not black) letters, as when a window option is not selectable. WTH is wrong? Should I use the ATI Catalyst? Restore the video card to factory settings?
