No Music

I had decided to play Oblivion again because I had the urge to, however, upon startup, no music would play. Going in game, it's the same problem. The videos still play, they aren't affected. All the music is in the correct folders. Sounds work just fine as well. Even a clean install(not even installing the expansions) yields the same results. The strange thing is, only Oblivion has this problem. Morrowind and Fallout 3 work just fine. Does anyone have any ideas as to how to fix this?

Are your music files in the Explore, Dungeon, Battle, Public, and Special folders, within the Music folder?

I know, but I had to ask it just to make sure.

Are your music files named atmosphere, dungeon, battle, and town? Does the startup music play? Is it named tes4title?

They have to be named specifically, or the game won't play them.

Are your music files all mp3's?

The game won't play anything else.

Did you change the sound value in the .ini file, mentioned above by xchargerfanx, in the correct copy of the file? You need to change it in the My Games folder. Ignore the one in your Data folder.

I'm guessing you already knew that, but I thought I'd ask to be sure.

You haven't mentioned it yet, but have you deleted your oblivion.ini and then ran the game from the launcher, so that your hardware is re-detected? And does the music play in the launcher?
