Ridiculous Lag Around Any Light Source

Ok, I've looked just about EVERYWHERE to find a solution to deal with lag around lights, especially torches. I tried looking for mods to reduce lighting, searched dozens of different tweak guides, searched the oblivion.ini file, and even turned on "No Light Flicker" found in Wrye Bash's tweak assorted settings. I really did not want to have it come down to this to where I actually have to post a HELP MEH PL0X thread, but it seems that I have no choice.

Oh and btw, I have tried using Real Lights included in All Natural (which obviously didn't help), and I seriously do NOT want to play with TLB enabled the whole time. So please, does anyone know a solution to this?

Hihoo :)

Does it also happen with the opening of doors/display cases ?

Have you played +/- 200 hours ?

If so , there's a chance that you have the animation-bug ... which

appears after 200 hours of gameplay .... stuttering doors , lights , torches , spell-animations ...

Here's a little thing that can fix that , it did the job for me

Animation-fixer

Hope it helps :)

Nope I actually uninstalled and reinstalled my game twice, so I believe that refreshed every single file that I had. And I'm sure it isn't any mods I have downloaded recently that is causing this, because the case is even worse when I run it on vanilla Oblivion after I do a fresh install. The only reason why I waited so long to post this was because I was trying to look for a solution somewhere else before having to post this thread, and also I just figured that everyone else had the same problem and there was no cure for it lol.

Remcoz, thanks for the mod suggestion. This could hopefully fix my problem, but since I reinstalled my game twice I'm not sure that having over 200 hours of gameplay is the problem. But anyway thanks for the input, and I'll definitely have a look at this mod.

As already mentioned, reinstalling the game will do nothing to fix issues such as the A-Bomb (Animation Bug) or any other issue "trapped" within the save file. You already have Wrye Bash installed so you have no use for the mod previously mentioned. Just use the Repair A-Bomb function of Wrye Bash and that will take care of the issue, if it is indeed the A-Bomb you are experiencing. And it definitely sounds like symptoms of the A-Bomb.

Open Wrye Bash

Click Saves Tab

Right click your Save File

Select Repair A-Bomb

Confirm

Now try again and report back with the results.

At least try the fix suggested it only takes a minute. Where my fix will take considerably longer.

Just reinstalling, even removing all save games - if you do not also remove the mods completely does not take everything out. The uninstall on the cd only removes what was put on your Hard drive from the cd. ANY mods and parts of mods will still be there to byte you when you reinstall. Also, Parts put into the Windows Registry are not removed and will still be there (although I haven't heard of them causing a slow down around light sources.)

Here is a link to my complete uninstall/reinstall that does remove all of these, including the registry entries.

It allows you to preserve any saves and mods, or remove them completely - your choice.

It seems that the uninstall guide was written for the CD copy of the game; I'm running the Steam version.. So for me, all I can do is just go to Steam and select 'delete local content,' since there is no uninstaller exe. I never install mods manually, so I just use OBMM and BAIN for installing/uninstalling. I then do a complete sweep of whatever was left over after the uninstallation, and usually find config files that were made after an installation of a mod and delete those as well.

On a side note, I actually started getting less lag around the lights and in general once I started using this program:

Still, I appreciate the help bben46, I'll just have to keep searching until I finally get to the bottom of this :(.
