unable to find masterfile: Oblivion.esm

ive searched the internet for awhile now with no luck of finding how to fix this issue. oblivion works and plays fine, including shivering isles and kotn. however when i instal a mod, or try to use the official addons (vile lair, meruhnes razor, theives den ect...), the game starts to load and then gives me the error message "unable to find masterfile: Oblivion.esm... i know the master file is still there and i know it still works because if i uncheck the data file box and go without the mods or addons oblivion runs perfectly. i know its has nothing to do with my computer specs because ive played oblivion with tons of mods on computers with less computing power than mine right now. i dont know if im finding bad mods and addons? but even so why would the official addons be giving me this problem. vile lair works but nothing past that. i have no mods instaled rightnow (because i simply cant) and its kinda lame, becuase ive been playing this game for years now and have done 99% of it. but im worryed that if i cant figure out this issue now i wont even be able to use the construction set and make my own mods. if it wont load mods and addons that have allways worked for me in the past i dont know if my mods will work either and i dont want to waste my time makeing something cool and then have it not work. ive tryed reinstaling (and to different locations on my hard drive). i was going to try to get the patches but the elder scrolls website is being raped by the skyrim video, unless there is a way around the video i havnt noticed the site is useless for me now to get the patches. i just have no idea what is causeing this, ive never had this issue and i really hope someone can help me or take the time to, if you need more specs let me know and ill give you the info of whatever as long as you think it might help. thanks

The Official Patches and such are still available from the Official Site, however they're a little more "hidden" than they used to be. I'm not sure why you'd be receiving the message you are unless you haven't updated your game to the latest patch. What version do you have, and where did you purchase it? Retail? Steam? Direct2Drive? Where?

I would link you directly to the patches but my ISP is being retarded right now and I'm tethering through my Android to my home PC to access the internet. It works, just at 40kb/s which is a little lackluster for data heavy sites.

LHammonds article on how to install Oblivion + addons and patches should have all Patchlinks, let me dig around a bit...

AHA!

This should help find the patches.
