LiborCZ
Hi, I've just bought the GOTY version of Fallout 3. Sadly it contains the SafeDisc protection. Which makes me unable to get FOSE to work. Is there any way of removing SafeDisc ?
M48A5
SafeDisc does not have anything to do with the FOSE functions. SafeDisc is to prevent unauthorized disc copying. If your problem is that FOSE won't work on your installation, completely uninstall the game and then reinstall it outside of "Program Files". It is the operating system User Access Control that is preventing FOSE from working.
bben46
As I remember. there is a bug in the GOTY disk version that Beth never bothered to fix. :wallbash: The second disk will not install properly because of that safe disk protection. I think installing it in Windows safe mode was the work around we used. :whistling: Also, as M48A5 already said - be sure to install outside of the MS Paranoia folders ( Program files (x86)) as putting things there allows the MS paranoia program (User Access control) to not allow you to do certain things that you will want to do - and doesn't bother to tell you it is blocking you. Mine is installed in C:\Games\Fallout3
Purr4me
Hi, I've just bought the GOTY version of Fallout 3. Sadly it contains the SafeDisc protection. Which makes me unable to get FOSE to work. Is there any way of removing SafeDisc ?http://fose.silverlock.org/at the bottom it shows this: FOSE does not support:Retail DVD and Steam build 1.0.0.12 (the original pre-patch version of Fallout) - if you have this version, update to 1.7.0.3Russian DVD version of Fallout 3 (it uses Starforce encryption on Fallout3.exe)Direct2Drive version of Fallout 3 (it encrypts the Fallout3.exe) - download the game from Steam if you would like to use a digital download servicePolish DVD version of Fallout 3 (it uses SafeDisc copy protection on Fallout3.exe) * FOSE is incompatible with Windows Live, so when running via fose_loader.exe, Live will be disabled. As Live operates as a cheat-detection tool similar to Punkbuster or VAC, FOSE's in-memory modifications are inherently incomptible. Don't worry about being banned or anything like that, everything still works when running Fallout normally. To download DLC, launch fallout3.exe directly instead of via the loader. After downloading the DLC, you will then need to move the DLC files in to the Fallout data folders to use them like any other mod. But, there are workarounds available. the problem is. can you use an all English version ?http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/4635/?Then the patch download from Bethesda main website.install the game to C:\games or D:\games\fallout 3The whole deal here is getting FOSE to work. all the text is contained with in the games files but can the English copy of the engine decrypt them? Can fose render that code ? It seems though it can if you use the English version of the engines as provided, this includes all the patches. There are mods here that have been translated as I also translate mods too. so follow the instructions as they lead you in the directions you need to go.EIDT: nija'ed By Bben...use the patches made for the English game, it can replace a lot of things needed in order to use most of the mods held here. we can help out translating things if required. LiborCZ
English is no problem for me :) So I install the game outside of program files, install the mod using NMM and after that download the patch from Bethesda ? When all of that is done, will I be able to get FOSE working ?
Purr4me
the thing listed as "steam" that can not be installed with nmm, you must install that by hand...it goes outside of the data directory, it replaces the olde Polish version of the engine with a backwards compatible version of the steam variant so you can patch backwards. Please look closely at instructions on every page, follow instructions carefully, then yes, all will be normal. You will see, you'll find out soon enough.UI used that to fix the newyorks ability to convert texts' to English from Russian. all you need to know is Important to understand the language written. SafeDisc copy protection on Fallout3.exe)That does not go into any data folder...but that is what's in control and that is what makes the differneces with all the other programs hosted here and else where including steams systems. Just that, but when things come down too Graphics? that's a whole new ball game, that is where you will need the games launcher and that has no other converters except the Bethesda version of the patch ,it's over 52 megabytes in the download and changes a lot of things so...you may end up buying the game in English any way. the thing to keep in mind here is what your wanting verses what's available.
