nisen
hey, this mods got a wierd file structure, and before going ahead just following basic reasoning to install it, be good for some help first, & cant find any readme anywhere. The download page is here for reference its packaged as an application and first thing is it installs a "Fallout 3" folder into my "Fallout 3 goty" folder so needs the contents put in the correct place before proceeding, but its also got another application launcher in the folder it installs, which asks you to launch once installed (and lucky I declined that) the Fallout 3 folder installed doesnt have much there: just a data folder (including a Music and a Sounds folder and an esp) and a DAT file and the 2nd application launcher. (btw I deleted it all yesterday so think thats all was there) So whys a 2nd application need to be launched? would this be to install the textures and meshes folders? and is this anormal way to pack some types of mods? phoneyLogic
It's an installer. There's probably a problem to recognise the right folder to install in. Make shure that the download is not corrupted and download it again. If you installed FO3 into another Folder than the default location, then you'll probably have to change it by installing Cube Exp as well.
nisen
It's an installer. There's probably a problem to recognise the right folder to install in. yea my fallout 3 goty folders in a different location than the default bethesda/... it assumes, its a steam copy so when asked I browsed to the correct location, but think the application itself assumes the game folder will just be called "fallout 3" so doesnt merge the data folder and put the 2nd application in the right place so that if id launched the 2nd application when the main installer finished it wouldnt know what to do with the file, unless the 2nd application is meant to launch from C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\fallout 3 goty/fallout 3 and not from C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\fallout 3 goty but why is there a data folder in that folder and an .esp with sounds and music folders, whys there no textures and meshes or a bsa, and whats the DAT file do? havent seen one of them in any mods before Edited January 24, 2011 by nisen
phoneyLogic
Yep, you need to get the path right to the Fallout3 folder. The dat file contains the uninstall info (mainly the paths for removing).Yes no bsa file, meshes or textures. If I remember correctly there are no new models added. It's built on vanilla objects.
nisen
lol I completely overlooked what the DAT and 2nd application were: to uninstall it. this time I just 'installed' it to an empty folder, added the esp update, and turned it into a fomod - dont need application installs and uninstall apps - and its working fine. Cant figure out the pattern to make it thru the maze but have the walk thru so should find find the logic soon enough thanks for your help
Blackline12
how do you turn it into a fomod
CarlCorey
Necro thread awakening! But, coincidentally, I was just trying to install this a couple weeks ago too. LIke nisen says, just install it to an empty location and then use 7-zip or WinRAR to make an archive that has CubeExperimental (EN).esm plus the Music and Sound directories in the root. You should be able to import that using any mod manager you prefer. Afterwards, you probably want to uninstall what the installer laid down to clean up your disk and Windows registry.
