Alright, so I got Skyrim yesterday, and just got started on downloading the mods today, and once I finished downloading/installing the mods and I click "Launch Skyrim" it shows a little black box, and crashes. I've tried the TES5edit program, and nothing is wrong. Someone, please help me!

Did you start the game using the Steam launcher first? If not, then your video settings and some other hardware were not set up. The Nexus launcher does not set these up as it expects them to already be set through Steam.

Bypassing the important question...

Answer to that question, yes. I have started the game using the Steam launcher. And yet, it still gives me a black screen.

I'll give a mostly detailed explanation of what happens.

I open Nexus Mod Manager with administrator. I have only 10 mods active. (Not sure if that's too much for my computer or not, I'm a noob to modding) I click "Launch Skyrim" then it shows up with the menu. I enable the mods in the Data files. When I click play, a black box in the top-left corner of my screen pops up and crashes. I've tried to use TES5Edit to fix this problem, and yet it says no errors have occured. Even if it doesn't say errors have occured, I went back and looked for any errors it didn't say. I uninstalled the mods for those, and yet when I start it up again, it still crashes.

My computer is Windows 8.1, a Toshiba Laptop, and a 64-bit. If there's anymore I need to list about my computer, please tell me. (and tell me where to find them.. I'm not so good with that stuff.)

This sounds like a problem with load order. Load order is a priority level loading sequence, the lower in the order, the higher the priority. If a mod depends on another mod and it is not in its proper place in the order, CTD ensues. You'd be better off using that link (How to ask for help, that BBen started and even offered help here) and list your mods. If you started directly with installing Skyrim, then NMM and a bunch of mods without even starting the game once to the main menu, you will have issue with incomplete ini and the system (game system) will fail. You should ONLY be using NMM if you have already started a game to the main menu with Skyrim's default launcher, where you tell it what video settings you want...as the Skyrim launcher is unreliable for load order sorting.

Alright, as a response to that, I tried completely restarting everything and doing that, but even when I open Skyrim in Steam Launcher it's a black screen. It worked when I first had the game. I cleared out the extra stuff in my folder, and it still doesn't work. I'm on the edge of giving up. I didn't mention I've been working on this for around 9 hours with breaks.

If you have been at it for 9 straight hours...a break is needed. Go get some fresh air, have a conversation with someone that doesn't involve gaming. Get some eyelid exercise, stretch your sitting position muscles out.

There's a nice thread about reinstalling Skyrim, but you need to follow it in order to gain from it. Check it out:

http://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:Make_Skyrim_Vanilla_Again

Once you have a full, VANILLA install, load order*see below* fixed with NMM...then start a game that goes to the main menu. No mods.

*Vanilla load order should be something really close to this:

Skyrim.esm
Update.esm
Dawnguard.esm
HearthFires.esm
Dragonborn.esm

Now you should have a clean INI, load order ready to be added to and a playable game. Just to be sure: go ahead and make that carriage ride to helgen and get thru the "pick sides" bit, entering Helgen Keep. If you get there intact...start modding. I recommend modding one mod at a time, with a test to see if the mod you install works. Keep in mind that Some mods really do need to be installed on a fresh game. Good luck.
