Light flickering on/off on certain textures (meshes?)

Yeah I really don't think it has anything to do with the normals. I think some of the textures have alpha when they should not.

^this. Then there's some meshes that have specular color full White...you'd think devs would have a standard set.

As far as I understand, Specular setting in Material are overridden by the specular map, if present.

So, in case Specular map is missing or absent and the Specular color setting is full white, mesh can be very bright.

 

That being said, I don't think the flickering problem described by the OP is related.
