Warren07016
So, I recently reformatted my computer, and decided to install New Vegas. There's absolutely no performance issues at all.....but I crash to desktop every 5-10 minutes, and it's really annoying. Before it crashes, it freezes, then goes to a black screen, and prompts me to file an error report. It happens most commonly:-While in Fiend Territory-While in Goodsprings-While loading a vendor-While looting a body-While opening/in the Pip-Boy-While going through a doorSometimes, rather than crashing, it'll freeze, and if I Alt+Tab and reselect New Vegas, it'll start playing again, only to crash a few minutes later.I've gone hours without crashing before, but during certain sessions, it'll crash and burn.I've set everything to medium settings, and disabled HDR/Motion Blur. frank lee
I suddenly began getting CTD's so went over my machines install log. One of the Apps I had installed (a effects plugin for Premiere pro) had installed Quicktime which I don't normally keep on board. I removed it and we are back and running again. Might have gotten by with doing some 'exception' stuff but it wasn't needed .

Are you running Win7 64bit? Have you tried purging cell buffers regularly? Edited January 22, 2011 by InHisName
frank lee
Apart from issues with various codecs the autosave and hotkey save seems to be problematical for many people. I got a lot more smoothness by disabling them and the 'Purge Cell Buffers' mod by Foxtrot seems to have eliminated the lockups I occasionally got. I'm XP (sp3) Pro if that's relevant. Guns don't kill people, Lag does! Edited January 24, 2011 by frank lee
