Zp1ke
Hi, I have been trying to install Oblivion: Game of the Year Edition on my computer with the help of a friend, but I keep getting this error: Error Code:-5004 : 0x80070005Error Information:>SetupDLL\SetupDLL.cpp (3078)PAPP:OblivionPVENDOR:Bethesda Softworks (http://www.bethsoft.com)PGUID:35CB6715-41F8-4F99-8881-6FC75BF054B0$11.0.0.28844@Windows Service Pack 2 (6002) IE 8.0.6001.18999 We have read up on various fixes including deleting/renaming the InstallShield folder, messing around with regedit, deleting every file we could find to do with Oblivion or Bethesda Softworks but all to no avail. Just the same error. I have had Oblivion installed on the same computer before a fair amount of time ago, and it worked perfectly then. We have tried this:http://consumerdocs.installshield.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=Q111006&sliceId=1 However, after installing the latest FLEXnet Connect Software Manager, and running that, we can't seem to locate the application it is meant to install. In addition to this, we've been into the CD's folder and tried running setup.exe from there, run the DXsetup, and running as an administrator. I currently run on Vista 64 bit and my computer can run Oblivion, as little has changed since I played it before. Thank you for your time and help in advance,Zp1ke. Qwaxalot
Read Hickory's link, then uninstall Oblivion, including the Oblivion folder in your documents directory. Then reinstall to someplace other than the default location, C:\Bethesda\Oblivion, for example. If you need more help refer to Bben's article: http://www.tesnexus.com/articles/article.php?id=
Zp1ke
Hi, The link you gave from Cecilla Zhou was really useful and got it up and running. Turns out it was a permissions problem after all. Thank you for the quick replies, and especially thank you for the link Hickory. Zp1ke.
