Deleted21304489User
I noticed when I don't have the unofficial patch installed NMC won't ask to overwrite anything. When it is installed, NMC askes to overwrite files. Mainly rubble piles. I have to assume it's something the patch has injected into the game. Question is...is it ok to let NMC overwrite these files? They look to mainly deal with rubble piles. I'm guessing the patch did some fixes to them and maybe NMC just wants to apply textures. Anyone know? They look to mainly deal with rubble piles. I'm guessing the patch did some fixes to them and maybe NMC just wants to apply textures. Anyone know? The Unofficial Patch does this: Fixed wood, edge trim, street litter, suburban rubble normalmap causing the texture to change color between normal\dark depending on the lighting and view angle (Altered Texture: wooddetails_n.dds, edgetrim01_n.dds, streetlitter01_n.dds, suburbanrubble01_n.dds). I suspect that this is fixed in the NMM normals as well, so I'd use that (or rather UHQ, but that's another matter).
Arkngt
Or rather not. Seems UHQ doesn't fix it anyway, so I take that back (haven't checked NMM - perhaps it does fix it?). Anyway, thanks for pointing that out. I've had an issue with lights making certain textures flicker between light and dark and had no idea what caused it, but the Unofficial Patch fixed it. Awesome! Deleted21304489User
You mean NMC, not NMM. So, you're saying...to not let NMC overwrite the unofficial patches files, because the patch apparantly fixes lighting issues with ground textures? I know Benwah is heavily involved with the Unofficial Patch and he mentioned that he doesn't use the street light mod, because of the flicker issues it generates with ground textures. Maybe he fixed it in the patch? UHQ is a massive FPS hog. It looks fantastic, but even the lowest version will suck the life out of your vram. I'm guessing it's the ground texture mostly, because it's everywhere at all times, continuously sucking up vram.
Arkngt
Yes, sorry, I meant NMC. Haven't checked NMC, but with UHQ I need to let the Unofficial Patch overwrite those textures to fix the issue with flickering. I'll check with NMM as well. Basically, the Unofficial Patch fixed the issue I mentioned to you with the light from my lamps causing flickering on certain textures. As I'm normally using UHQ, it seems it doesn't. But I'll check how it works with NMC as said. Edited June 8, 2015 by Arkngt
Deleted21304489User
I've reinstalled the unofficial patch as well.
Arkngt
Oddly enough, I don't get the light flicker on the wooddetail I had issues with earlier no matter which replacer I use: Unofficial Patch, NMC or UHQ. It was driving me crazy just a week ago. Oh well, it's fixed somehow anyway. Edited June 8, 2015 by Arkngt
Deleted21304489User
I'm using that HD fire and explosion mod. I went to big town at night and when you walk up to a fire barrel, it's like someone flicked on a light switch. I'm gonna remove it to see if it's causing that effect. it's why I don't use the megaton lighting mod either. Same thing. Only, the author of that mod says it's a game engine issue and can't be fix. With the Megaton lighting mod, I simply disabled two lights close to the entrance, which fixed the flickering issue there.
Deleted21304489User
That's the most noteable lighting glitch with that mod. However, there are three more that I've noticed. One when walking up past the sherrif's house, one up behind Moriarty's saloon and finally, the lighting around the Megaton Bomb.
