Might it be, perhaps, that she views gaming as competion for her affection? Is there anything you could play together? If you promote gaming as something you enjoy together, she may be more amenabe to it.

Its good for family type games, although I played pool (or snooker if you will) with my brother a while back and it got a bit heated towards the end because I put my last ball right before this perfect shot he had... Not on purpose...

Ok, it was on purpose. :turned:

In my experience, most gamers started young. I grew up with at least one PC and one console always around. I never met anyone who became a hardcore gamer that started after their teens.

I guess this is more aimed at getting my gf to understand my interest/love for pc rpgs....she doesn't get it and it annoys her when I play sometimes.

Well, I am going to assume that it isn't so much as your love of RPGs, but the amount of time and attention you give them compared to her. As we all know, RPGs are a huge time sink. I used to get mad at my own father for his addiction to gaming, even though I myself spent nearly as much time in front of the computer as he did. He would neglect household chores, not listen to me when I talked to him, and we were often late everywhere. Without further information, I am assuming that what she really wants is more of your time and attention, and that she feels that she has to compete with your RPGs. Depending on how much you love her, I would try to spend more time with her. Maybe you can sit her down in front of the computer, and help her create a Dragon Age(or whatever you play) character, or even a non-game related activity, if she does hate RPGs. To me, it sounds less likely that she'll come around, and more likely that you'll need to make some adjustments to your relationship, if not end it(and find a girl with less free time).

I never had a console until a couple of years after I had moved out of my parents house, aged 21ish. And the only PC I had access to when I was growing up was a glorified word processor. But now, well, the fact that when most people walking into my lounge for the first time have to do a double take because we have 4 Xboxes, a PS3 and this PC all hooked up so they can all be played at the same time, kinda tells me that gaming is an unusually large part of my life! And there's only me and my hubby living here, lol, so even though we get a lot of gamer friends visiting every day, there's often one(+) console not being used. Does this qualify as hardcore? lol
