Roggvir101
I'd love to see a mod that makes judging distances from my current location easier by adding rings around my location marker on the map. I like to play with all quests activate so all current targets appear on the map and I just move from one target to the next depending on which is closest, but it is sometimes hard to judge due to elevation. I know there are a number of mods out there that improve the map in various ways but I haven't been able to find one that specifically helps with judging distances. Alternately, perhaps a box in the corner of the map could give you distance (and/or travel time) information to wherever you point your cursor on the map. Does anyone know of a mod already out there that has a function like this? If not, would someone be interested in making such a mod?
Teabone3
I remember playing the old Elder Scrolls games and it would estimate how many days (or weeks) it would take to get from one place to another. It would even shorten that up if you were going by horse.
bben46
Often the closest target is not the easiest to get to. It may be way up on the side of a mountain right above you, but you need to find a road that begins on the other side of that mountain. There may be many quest targets that are much closer than the direct linear distance would indicate. I remember an Oblivion mod that did this though - it gave a user definable circle around a selected point on the map. I couldn't find it with a quick search though. I think It was primarily intended for mod creators and may only work in the CK .
Roggvir101
Agreed, the distance to a quest target 'as the crow flies' may not be the most helpful measure of distance in Skyrim. I'm not sure how the game determines how much time elapses when we fast-travel from one place to another - presumably it assumes the shortest route by road with no delays. A mod that tells you the time that would elapse should you fast-travel to any location you hover your mouse over on the map would probably be more helpful than actual distance rings. Obviously you could still choose to walk it rather than fast-travel, in which case the actual time taken might vary considerably.
