Abramul
While you could use setav level 20, this would lead to you getting trounced due to low skill levels. I saw in another thread that the formID for gold is 0000000007, or maybe 00000007

Do quests and sell the rewards, or go hunting and sell the items you find. A nice quest is the Order of the Virtuous Blood quest, because of what you can do when you've finished it. You'll need at least 5 fame to start it though. edit: Got 1337 posts :P
Rhydderch Hael
You can get up to Level 20 pretty fast. In fact, too fast, just by playing the game. Select you favorite skills, the ones you use the most, and you gain levels very quickly. The problem with that situation is that your stats may not rise up as fast as your skills (and skills are what drive the level-ups). There is a thread somewhere in this page that deals with how to gain as much money as you can through normal gameplay.
Marxist ßastard
Is there really even a point to levelling up in Oblivion, since everything else levels up with you?
Povuholo
Is there really even a point to levelling up in Oblivion, since everything else levels up with you?Other creatures which you haven't seen before will show up, and you'll be able to get better armor I suppose... Of course because the creatures level up with you you're not better protected with your daedric armor at level 20 than with your iron armor at level 3... I get your point. So it's just for the thing Bethesda thinks is the most important: eye candy. Only magic items make a difference.

Rhydderch Hael
Is there really even a point to levelling up in Oblivion, since everything else levels up with you? While I am well aware of your opinion on Oblivion (most folks are), I find it a little disconcerting when someone comes up with a question on how to play the game, the only answer you have available for them is essentially "Just don't play this game!" My new character leveled up too fast, in my opinion. She gained two or three levels in a single day during one venture, and the only time I was able to peg a +5 bonus to a stat was going from Level 1 to Level 2. She's at 9 right now, and she just got raped by a mountain lion on the Silver Road (and was chased out of Kingscrest by a Troll). So, at the moment, escape and evasion has become the operating byword until I can get her properly kitted, fitted, and trained.
