NexusKnight
I've just used the new Wrye Bash 291 installer and it worked great on my Win 7 64-bit setup. However when I did a fresh Oblivion install on my new OS, OBMM detected a major conflict with Knights of the Nine and the bashed patch 0.esp... I think that's right. Anyways, everytime I start Oblivion, it stops loading with the same error message, something went wrong and game has to close. It was working fine at one point, then I went and added Vilja and HGEC, Apachii Godess Store and Womans Move mods. I used BOSS to sort the load order as well and rebuild the Bash Patch, but I've done something wrong. Can anyone please shed a little light on the problem for me, I'm dying to try out someone's save game to start with a new character? I'd really appreciate any help as I'm stumped. Hickory
Please do not use the conflict detector of OBMM, it is virtually useless. OBMM is usefull for two things ONLY: installing OMODs and manipulating .bsa files. Always, always quit OBMM after installing or uninstalling any OMOD, as it only tidies up once you quit. Never, ever run BOSS or Wrye Bash before using OBMM. Do what you have to with OBMM, then quit, then run BOSS, then run Wrye Bash and create your Bashed Patch. Remember: OBMMBOSSBASH In that order. Wow, thanks for the pointers....sounds kinda important. You're saying that I f-----d my game up by not following this order. Too bad I didn't know this before. No problem though, I've decided to restore my comp to an earlier point and try it all over again just for fun. LOL. Despite all the headaches, it's been kinda worth it, I've learned a lot. It's a great game despite its flaws, and it's got great support from devoted enthusiasts like yourself. Thanks for your efforts Hickory, I will endeavour to maintain these procedures and if everything goes well, I won't have to post back. However, it still leaves the question why is my game crashing? Hickory
However, it still leaves the question why is my game crashing? Who knows? Bad installation? Missing master/s? Until you have gone through the procedure of sorting your mods correctly, and ran the game successfully, it's difficult to say.
NexusKnight
Well, I restored to an earlier point and started again. Everything worked this time with Wrye Bash, BOSS & OBMM installs - thanks to your pointers Hickory. However, when loading some mods I get a warning prompt that Bashed Patch, Apachii Godess Store & Womans Move have been reset to different times?! No idea what this means. Then when I go into WB they show up as red highted. Now my Womans Move doesn't work. Can you or anyone please explain what has happened and how to fix this apparent problem? I don't want to load anything else until I fix this as my System Restore won't go back anymore without causing major headaches! (Kicking myself for not making a system image instead!) Hickory
Click on the 'Files' tab in Wrye Bash and UNCHECK 'Lock Times' -- also do not run OBMM, if you have it, after Wrye Bash. Once you have unchecked 'Lock Times', re-run BOSS and rebuild your Bashed Patch.
NexusKnight
Funny, in the Wrye Bash pictorial guide, it says to make sure 'Lock Times' is on! No wonder people are having problems with Wrye Bash with so many different directions floating around. Okay, I've done that and all the red highlights went away, but Oblivion (on Win 7) keeps crashing at the load window. I got it going once, I after deactivating the bashed patch, but half of Fanecasecal ruins was missing along with the country side: just a big patch cut out of the terrain. Then I found out I had a problem with OBMM not loading some BSA, and I read that OBMM shouldn't be opened after install, until Obliviion has run first, to create the proper BSA. 15 hours straight trying to fix this problem both today and yesterday with something else, and I'm about to crack, big time!!!! The problem began after I loaded WB, BOSS and Obmm, in that order (for the third time!!). I then began installing... HGEC BodyWomans MoveTes4 LOD GenAlive WatersEnhanced WatersNatural FacesApachii Godess StoreVilja At each stage I started Oblivion to test out the install but ran into problems with the no BSA thing. I found out how to correct this but the game keeps crashing at load screen whenever the bashed patch is active. OMG I don't know what to do now, except ask for HELP again. I'm at the point of deciding to re-install everything from scratch again. I can't restore my system to an earlier point, because it leaves too many folders behind that I have to manually delete and triple check that I got everything! That's too much of a nightmare... I don't recommend anyone use the Restore Point feature to correct bad MOD installs, it would be better to create a system IMAGE, 'cept I didn't have any spare media to store it to this time... too bad. I'm just so glad this site has such a great support group; thanks again in advance to anyone coming to my rescue.
Hickory
No, in the Wrye Bash readme the reference to checking 'Lock Times' is under the heading for 'Maintaining Load Order'. Well, you don't want to maintain the load order (keep it static), you want BOSS to reorder as necessary. To builds your bashed patch correctly, when you press 'Rebuild Patch', make sure that you check the following: Merge PatchesImport ... [Go through each 'import' option and if there's a mod in the right window, check it, and the Import... option.]Cobl Catalogs [ONLY if you use Cobl]Contents CheckerLeveled ListsRace RecordsSEWorld Tests [ONLY if you have Shivering Isles installed] The Globals and Tweaks are optional, but should not be checked unless you know what you are doing, and should be left alone while you are troubleshooting. Everything else should be left unchecked UNLESS you know that you need it. And remember, each and every time you add, remove or edit a mod: OBMM if needed (close it before running BOSS)BOSSBASH
Smooth613
[...]I got it going once, I after deactivating the bashed patch, but half of Fanecasecal ruins was missing along with the country side: just a big patch cut out of the terrain. [...]I just wanted to comment on the above, since Hickory covered the other points. The issue you describe here has nothing at all to do with mods or any "problem", so to speak. That area is notorious for missing land, happening at random. There are other areas, such as heading on the road south to Leyawin just across a wooden bridge, that randomly disappear also. Simply reloading your game will fix this issue almost every time. What happens to cause this? Well recently folks have likely figured it out. It happens when a havoc'd item is placed near a cell border, on a hill or slope, and rolls across the cell border. When this happens, for whatever reason, the affected cell will not load, just a huge void appears. There is a patch in the works for these common locations, but they have to be reported first. Later this will likely be part of the Unofficial Patch Supplemental, since Arthmoor is the one working on the issue. Currently three or four areas, including the two mentioned in this thread, have been "fixed". After using this fix folks testing have not seen the issue reappear. However it's a fairly rare event and totally out of the users control, so it's kinda hard to reproduce consistently. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know about this so you won't think it's an actual problem or conflict shall it happen again. Simply save and reload. NexusKnight
Okay, the plot thickens... now there are definite game glitches that appear at random?! So, my mod settup probably isn't to blame for these, that's a relief. But I got the game to resume anyways by uncheching the bashed patch.esp in the launcher. Everything seems to be working now and I have resumed play. Is there anything wrong with this, I'd like to know? Because if there's an issue still at large, I'll need to fix it now before playing any further.
