Invisible faces drive me mad.

So, I made this pair of harem pants that look pretty good, except that the faces are messed up. When I go to textured mode, this is what I see.

Could this have happened when I was manually going through each face trying to fix the normals by pressing Ctrl + N? I spent hours trying to fix them, but of course, it didn't work well.

It certainly does look like the normals are pointing in all different directions. If the model is designed well, you "should" be able to just press CTRL+N and re-calc normals to the outside for all faces.

You can get a visual indication as to which way the normals are facing by turning on the "Draw Normals"

Go into Edit Mode, press F9 for Edit panel, look at the panel called "Mesh Tools More" and enable the button called "Draw Normals"...you might need to adjust how long the "hair" is drawn by adjusting the "NSize" value. If done properly, you should see a bunch of blue fuzz pointing out. Anything pointing in and the texture is facing the wrong way and you'll need to adjust one at a time.

Since so many seem out of place, I'd recommend recalculating all of them outside and go from there. If more than 50% are the wrong direction, select all and flip the normals...then adjust one face at a time. However, if I were having these kinds of problems, I'd look at my model to see why it could not figure out what was inside or out.
