[REQz] A Black Sword

Hi, I have never done any Mod requests before, However your post came at a good time. I am in the middle of learning how to get my own objects into oblivion. I read this post yesturday and have downloaded your pick and

started creating it using Blender. It is not complete yet but it is moving along just fine. Right now I have it working in game but at this point it still needs some fine tuning in the mesh and I need to properly UV map it and create

a texture for it as well. Right now it has a very simple uv map and the picture is the texture.

I wandered onto this post wondering how to add your own items into the game. You said that you were reading an article that says how to do this, so here's my question: can you give me the link to that article and the Blender tool you were talking about? thank you!

Update, Ok, I am pretty much done with the sword. It is UV mapped but the texture could use a bit more work. I do still need to create the sheathing for it and figure out how the sheathing and sword work together in Oblivion. at this point I am not really sure how. However I can put the sword up for use and just update it as I figure this out. The sword has full collision and is ready for use. However it may be just a bit before I can put it up though, I need to learn how to package and need to write info and such first before I can upload so just bare with me for the moment. Again this is the first mod request I've ever done and first mod upload. :)

tatts24, great job so far. I'm glad to see a new blenderhead growing and spreading his wings of new-found skillz!

@LHammonds, Thanks for the compliment and the links, i'll be sure to go through them. I did briefly look at the sword and scabbard and will to go through that more later. to get the collision for the mesh and it works for the scabbards too, All I did was import a long sword and used the collision mesh from that. I just deleted the oblivion sword and replaced it with my own. It seems to work fine for the most part except when I attempt to throw the weapon away. Rather than the weapon falling to the ground it acts as a static mesh and locks itself in place where ever you drop it. However you can still pick it up and use it or drop it in a chest. But again thanks for the links, It's too bad i did'nt come across those earlier, I might have saved myself from getting a headache.

 

@Spedley 13, Just go through the links that LHammonds just provided. One of the links contains a list of the neccesary programs that you'll need to properly work with nif files. As far as blender goes, it is a mind bending program to work with if you are new to modeling. I would suggest going through the noob to pro documentation for learning blender.

 

Anyway, for now until I can get a good chance to really go through LHammonds links, As I said earlier I did figure out that the method I was using for the collision on the sword also works for the scabbard/sheath. As you can see I already created it and UVmapped it. I had to completely rework the sword texture to fit it in. but it is coming along. I plan to make a high res model for texture and normal map purposes. So it'll be a bit yet.
