small problem when using OOO+DR5

Hello there,

I noticed that DR5's cool magic effects (burning a foe with a fireball, turning him into a block of ice...) are not working anymore after I installed OOO (version 1.33). All the other features of DR are working perfectly except this one.

Does anybody know why this may be happening?

I'm posting my load order (sorted with boss) to see if you can find anything weird there.

Thanks,

Tiny lampe.

You have no Bashed Patch. You need to install Wrye Bash and create a Bashed Patch to tie all of those mods together.

Hello Hickory,

Do I have to understand that my only option is wyre bash? To tell you the truth I'm very happy with the stability of my oblivion now and I'm afraid that if I mess with wyre bash I'll screw things up.

Any other solutions?

Wrye Bash will not screw things up. When Oblivion is modded with dozens of mods, and particularly overhauls, both BOSS and Wrye Bash become essential -- some large overhauls require a Bashed Patch.

As to your game's stability, is isn't, is it?

You wont screw the stability using wrye bash. If you dont like the result, you only need to delete the bashed file.

Boss could screw it, but isnt likely to do so. Anyway, you can always save your load list and reload it if anything happens.

BTW Deadly reflex is currently in version 6.

I may make an attempt on wyre bash this Friday and we'll how it turns out. However, I'm convinced that the problem will not be solved this way. The thing is that when I was installing OOO1.33 (the omod version) there were some questions about magic effects and the like that were not clear to me. My guess is that one of these questions installed something that is not allowing DR's magic effects to work. I will try to go that route first and I may post the questions of the installer here to see if somebody believes that they may be responsible of this little issue. If it's not this then I'll try wyre bash.

About the new version of DR, yes, I know about it. However I disliked the immersive camera so I decided not to upgrade.

Why are people so scared of Wrye Bash and BOSS?

If you use BOSS and a Bashed Patch, Deadly Reflex OVERRULES any OOO magic effects that conflict, and the Bashed Patch is there to tie everything else together.

Well I guess you have been using wyre bash for so long that you don't remember how intimidating the mere installation process can be. And this is just installation, this very nice patch you're talking about for example, I have no idea of how to make it, so more tutorials will be needed to learnt that as well.

But of course, if it is necessary, I'll put my stubborness aside. The point is that I never needed WB before (I'm using OOO, yes, but I was careful not to pick any other mod that modifies leveled lists or if I did -as in armamentarium- I used the compatibility patch)

So, program that I never needed + difficult to make it work = reluctance to use it now. Simple isn't it?

And, by the way, I use BOSS (if you see my first post, I posted my load order specifying that it was sorted following BOSS' instructions)

As a final note, and despite all my ranting, learning how to use WB may be the wisest thing to do. I'm not denying that ;)

I just want to touch on this, especially the bolded part. How complicated is running two EXE installers? I mean that sincerely, and in the nicest way possible. An EXE installer is so common and basic in the world of computer software it should be second nature to be able to use them. Copying and pasting files is also rather simpleton as well, when necessary. Wrye Bash installation involves nothing more than running two EXE installers. The default options are set where you can just click yes through everything and you'll be fine. Plus there are tons of information available at this point to literally hold your hand through the entire process of using the basic, and some advanced, features of Wrye Bash. The Wrye Bash Pictorial Guide for Newbies is an excellent source of information, and is highly recommended.

Actually, at first i also was intimidated by wrye bash, its kinda unusual to have to install several phyton things to make a program work, besides that menu cluttered with a lot of tabs and stuff can seem really daunting.

Today i create a new bashed file everytime i add a mod.
