All Weather: very good, but there's something wrong with fog

ANVars.FogLength

  1. 1. Setting "ANVars.FogLength" to 0 in "All Natural.ini" deactivates fog.

    • Yes, because 1 reduces fog lenght to minimum, while 0 is like "OFF"
    • No, I don't think so: infact zero only reduces fog lenght to minimum

Considering there is no such variable in the INI this poll has little to no purpose. However, I'll assume you are referring to the fog length multiplier for each type of weather, still yet your options are inaccurate. It's a multiplier, not an on/off boolean. You would want a value of 0.001 or something of that sort for short fog distance. (increase visible fog) Or the opposite, 1.9 (or higher 2, 3, etc...) if you want to increase fog distance. (decrease visible fog)

The parameter exists, and I have written it by copying its original name from the .ini file.

As the programmer indicates, 1 is the lowest average value. Zero is not considered... this is the reason why I ask you what happens if someone puts a zero.

However my options are based on what usually people say.

Check the .ini file. There's a part where you can find:

; For Tamriel

; ==============

Set ANVars.ClearLength to 9 ; Average duration of a clear weather. (9)

Set ANVars.CloudyLength to 9 ; Average duration of a cloudy weather. (9)

Set ANVars.OvercastLength to 9 ; Average duration of a overcast weather. (9)

Set ANVars.FogLength to 0 ; Average duration of a foggy weather. (9)

Set ANVars.RainLength to 9 ; Average duration of a rainy weather. (9)

Set ANVars.StormLength to 9 ; Average duration of a stormy weather. (9)

Set ANVars.SnowLength to 9 ; Average duration of a snowy weather. (9)

I did indeed overlook the actual Fog value, my apologies.

1 is the vanilla (unaltered) value, since it's a multiplier and multiplying by 1 gives you the same value you started with. However 1 is not the lowest number you can use. You can use decimal numbers as previously indicated. In general mathematics you cannot multiply by 0, so I would imagine if you set the multiplier value to 0 it would have no effect. Try it and see.

Oh, I see you're talking about the weather duration, and not the actual fog values per weather. If you set it to 0 the transistion will still take place and then transistion into a new weather. You cannot prevent the weather from changing to Fog, you can only decrease the amount of time the weather is present. So in your poll the second option is the most accurate depiction of how the weather would behave with a value of 0.

Thank you for your reply.

:)

Mhm, it is like I supposed. My hope was that setting the parameter to zero could create a system error based on the unactivation of fog. Infact the author of the mod says (in the .ini file) that 1 is the lowest value for that parameter.

Are you really really sure about what you say?

Dear guys, I have installed All natural: it has a lot of good weather effects, but I don't like fog too much.

I have prepared a Poll question for you.

There is nothing wrong with All Natural's fog, as suggested in your subject line -- as for the poll... well let's leave it at that.
