General mod issues

I have installed a multitude of mods using both manual installation and Oblivion Mod Manager, These mods range from enhanced weather, to armor to a race, They show up fine in the data files window on the launcher and are checked and the game launches without any errors but none of the mods seem to be in effect O.o

There must be something I am missing when all of the readme's are very direct and simple it has to be something simple that I am missing when even Oblivion Mod Manager doesn't work >.>

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I am currently running Windows 7 64bit and the game is installed to the default directory of "C:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion"

I have patched the game with the unofficial patch linked on tesnexus (http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5296)

Well, there's your problem. Never install Oblivion to the default directory where UAC can interfere. You need to reinstall Oblivion outside of Program Files to a directory such as C:\Games\Oblivion, or similar.

Also make sure you have the most recent Official Patch. Many mods require your game to be updated to the most recent version. And remember that the Unofficial Patches should be treated simply as mods, since that's what they are. Don't get me wrong they're great and fix many things and I'd never play without them, but they're not really "patches" by definition.

Thank you for taking the time to Clarify that bit about the Unofficial patch, As for the Official directory. UAC is the very first thing next to windows defender that I disable on a fresh install of windows. Rule number 1, Never let windows do anything ever.

This issue is usually caused by not having the game patched to the latest version with the Official Patches.Check your Oblivion game version number. It should be 1.2.0416. Earlier versions won't recognize most mods.Regards,Hem

Thank you aswell, I have now updated to 1.2.0416.

This has solved a few of my issues when I did a fresh reinstall (making sure I got a clean start) and re patched using your suggestions. I have my custom race working now (Lattamer) however I have also attempted to use the High res skin sets and the Eyecandy body but neither of those seem to have taken effect on the meshes at all. I installed these using OBMM Extended.

are there any other prerequisits for the Eyecandy that havent seen? Current OMODs for this are:

HGEC Body

High Rez Skin Textures for HGEC

Lattamar V2 skins found (http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=20022)

Thanks again for everything!

I hate to double post but this is fairly relevant to my issue.

I have installed this ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated addon and am still quite stuck. I have attempted to use the function in OBMM but to no avail. I feel that I am doing something wrong as the skin textures and HGEC body still refuse to work.

I have installed a few mods recently on my new oblivion install (w/ SI, KoTN and other DLC's), first i encountered a problem in which after using the level up screen (assigning stats etc.) oblivion froze. i reinstalled about 4 times after which i used the .exe file from my other computer (runs oblivion with 400+ mods, 19.5GB data folder which is a bit excessive, on XP while being stable) i installed all of the oblivion unofficial patches, including DLC and supplemental patches, now i am encountering an error where oblivion CTD's when i start up. Sometimes i get to the bethesda logo but it crashes halfway through i have disabled every mod and DLC/expansion; didn't work. i have reinstalled yet again with no joy i am running the latest SI version on windows 7 (64-bit) and have i think i managed to fix this error before but can't remember how i did it.

I realise that i probably should have put this in a new thread

Ok, i worked out that the crashing problem was due to OBSE

I'm still having the levelup problem, has anyone got any idea what's causing this?
