barbaro343
I just recently got Oblivion, and I was all excited to take screenshots and get them up on the Nexus... But there's just one little problem. Windows 7 Microsoft Paint won't open up the .bmp screenshots! I tried all the tutorials on the Nexus Wiki, but nothing works! Is it even possible to view the screenshots that I take? Can I open them? Or is there another way to take screenshots that I can view? Help!
Zaldir
Paint should be able to open .bmp files. Do you get any error message when trying to open it, or is it just not associated with it?
barbaro343
The error message says: 'Paint cannot read this file. This is not a valid bitmap, or its format is not currently supported." I assume that means something, but I'm not really computer literate with this stuff.....
Hickory
Windows 7 will not allow the game to create screenshots if you have installed Oblivion to the default 'Program Files' folder structure. You will have to uninstall Oblivion (which you should do in this case, anyway), and reinstall if outside of 'Program Files'. I suggest C:\Games\Oblivion . barbaro343
That's where I have Oblivion installed... I initially had it installed to the default location but it screamed bloody murder and basically killed my game, so I redid it.
Hickory
Alright then, can you open your screenshots with IrfavView?
barbaro343
Is that a safe download? I don't want to screw up my new computer... :) I'm always very leery about things like this =P
Hickory
It's a very safe download. It's very popular, and has been around for years. Moreover, it's free. But of course, you should not take my word for it: scan it with your antivirus before running it.
barbaro343
Hmm, well I can open them, but they're in black and white.... any way to change that?
