Bashed patch problem

Hello, I have serious problems with my Bashed patch.

I have heavily modded game but everything works fine (so far) - It means that game at least loads. But when I make bashed patch, activate it and try to run game, the game freezes on loading screen (that screen after intro with title Loading).

The problem is in bashed patch i think. Worst problem is that i tagged every mod as BOSS suggests to, but that just doesn't work.

And even more strange thing is that some options in bashed patch works and some doesn't - for example when i check Merge Patches and Import Cells - batched patch works. But when I check Import Graphics, it freezes. And when I try to check only Import Graphics - It works also. Only some combinations works, but i need to import everything, am I right?

I hope that I described my problem enough, I wrote this in haste, so excuse me :)

Before you build a Bashed Patch you should reorder your mod list with BOSS. Once you have updated and run BOSS, rebuild your Bashed Patch. When you press 'Rebuild Patch', make sure that you check the following:

Merge Patches

Import ... [Go through each 'import' option and if there's a mod in the right window, check it, and the Import... option.]

Cobl Catalogs [ONLY if you use Cobl]

Contents Checker

Leveled Lists

Race Records

SEWorld Tests [ONLY if you have Shivering Isles installed]

The Globals and Tweaks are optional, but should not be checked unless you know what you are doing, and should be left alone while you are troubleshooting. Everything else should be left unchecked UNLESS you know that you need it.

Yes, I have reordered list with BOSS and then rebuilt bashed patch. I checked every option which I want (tweaks) and the ones which imports something from mods. In my last attempt I checked SEWorld Tests too (I have SI). I used BOSS after completion of patch and moved patch at the bottom of loading order in mod manager. But still only thing i got was tiny move in loading bar. It moved a bit and game freezed. I am not sure if game really freezes, but loading stops, my hard drive is still loading, but it's loading forever. In process explorer game doesn't responds and has still same size in RAM and that size doesn't grow with time (so I think it freezed). Without bashed patch game loads without problems.

As I've said - the strange thing is that when I check for example only Import Cells - it works. When I check only Import Graphics - it works. But when I check both - game freezes at loading screen. Is it possible, that suggested tags in BOSS are wrong?-I tagged mods in Wrye witch tags from BOSS. Can it be that some mods should be imported in another way? The only way which i see now is playing without bashed patch, but that is equal with suicide :)

What version of Wrye Bash are you using? Some of the previous/interim versions had a few bugs which have been fixed. Are you getting an error dialog box when you build your Bashed Patch?

If you are not using the most recent version of Wrye Bash, consider upgrading to version 291. If you are using the latest version, consider deleting and reinstalling both Wrye Bash 291 and Wrye Python 03A.

That's about all I can advise based on the information posted.

Hope this helps.

P.S. If you are using the most recent versions of most mods out there, Wrye Bash and BOSS, you should find that most of your mods are automatically tagged correctly (note that you will still to activate the tags when building your Bashed Patch). Therefore, if you find you are having to add tags to a lot of mods, there may be something amiss.

Edit: Run BOSS only BEFORE building your bashed patch...and don't change the load order after building the patch (unless you really know what you are doing). It is unlikely moving your mods around *a little* after building the patch is the cause of this problem, but it is possible.

You must NOT run BOSS after building your Bashed Patch. You must build your Bashed Patch LAST, after running BOSS. That is your problem.

Yeah...I probably should not have suggested that one can move mods around AT ALL after building the patch.

(Technically, certain mods that the patch does not touch can be moved without problem, but unless you know how to determine which mods can be moved, just don't do it.)

Conclusion...don't run BOSS or change your load order after building the bashed patch...and rebuild the patch if you do.

Quite so. But there really is no reason to move files after building a Bashed Patch. If your setup doesn't like the BOSS load order, rearrange the load list before building your Bashed Patch. There should only ever be one maintenance routine carried out after a Bashed Patch build, and that is TES4LODGen, which (being highly load order sensitive) must be carried out last of all tasks.

Ok, thank you very much - both of you :). My game works flawlessly so far with bashed patch. Upgrade of Wrye helped and I found that Wrye has own button for BOSS which I haven't noticed before - that did all the work for me :). My problem was that I have sorted load order with BOSS separately and then run Wrye which brought anarchy to that order (for example Oblivion.esm was loaded as last of all .esms) - as I mentioned before - BOSS button in Wrye sorted it out :) Edited by aKriJcz
