Screenshot Quality?

Hi Guys, Idiot with a nooby question.

Whenever I'v changed a Screenshot from .Bmp to .Jpeg to upload in the Image Share I always loose quality quite badly, even with the

Game settings on Ultra (Athough these look better but my PC can't handle this for serious play) .

Most every other image posted by people looks quite sharp and mine look quite low quality.

I open in Paint and save as a .Jpeg, Is there a better way of saving as a .Jpeg but not loose quality?

I have GIMP but not Photoshop If its another program you guys use.

Can anyone give some info on this, it's bugging me :(

Thanks, Andy.

GIMP can do it of course but I imagine it would be a pain to use for that purpose. I suggest IrfanView. It has a batch conversion tool that will let you convert multiple files at once, quickly. FastStone Viewer also has batch-conversion and has a better image-cropping tool than IrfanView.

evilneko, Ty for the info, I will look into those programs. My screenies arn't the most imaginative but I take quite a few, also when I went to upload 1 or 2

I noticed how bad they looked. If anyone has anything else to try, I'm all ears :)

Paint destroys images when you save it as a jpg. Use GIMP. Simply use "save as" and change the format in the title from .bmp to .jpg. It will then give you a quality prompt. 100% is obviously the best, but sometimes you may have to drop it a bit to reach the 1.5 mb minimum Nexus upload restrictions. Depends on your resolution and picture content.

But yeah, if you have GIMP, get used to using it. Does a great job saving images in .jpg.
