Listener of the Dark Brotherhood

Okay, first of all, Sorry if this is in the wrong section. I couldn't really find anywhere else more appropriate.

Anyway, So I installed Oblivion for my PC the other day and I've been tinkering around with mods and whatnot and whatever. I found this really cool DB mod that I want to use, but I don't want to go through the whole DB storyline again(I've done it quite a few times on both my PS3 and my 360.)

So, I'm asking if any of you have a savegame that is a Listener in the Dark Brotherhood, or a way to use the console to promote myself to be the Listener without having to go through the whole questline.

Thanks if you can, Thanks if you can't.

Respect,

Kru

I haven't tested this method, so I'm unsure whether it will work or not (in theory it should). Using the console type in the following:

setstage dark18mother 100

What this will do is complete the quest Honor Thy Mother, and should grant you the rank of Listener, thus enabling the ability to use the mod. If this doesn't turn out to work let me know and I'll try and come up with a better solution.

It will just complete the quest and not trigger anything that is supposed to happen between the start of the DB questline and the end, which will cause all kinds of problems.

It probably won't make you listener and will very likely prevent you from ever becoming listener.

Your best bet to become listener quickly is to do the questline normally, with gratuitous use of the movetoqt console command.

I agree with whalecakes. Use the movetoqt (move to quest target) to quickly go through all of the quests without having to really do any of them. You won't get any of the bonus items that are offered to you, but most of them seem rather useless anyway. Don't try to use the console to instantly complete quests or promote yourself to Listener; you'll likely cause quite a few glitches which will mess up the functionality of the mod.

According to the console commands page on the UESP Wiki (http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Console_Commands) you should be able to use the command 'completequest <questid>'. If you go to the Dark Brotherhood questline page also on the wiki (http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Dark_Brotherhood#Dark_Brotherhood_Quests) you can get the questid at the bottom of the summary info at the top of the page (e.g. A Watery Grave is Dark02Watery). If you look down a little further on the Console wiki page you'll find some info on the 'movetoqt' (they say it can have some undesirable side-effects). In a perfect world you would 'movetoqt' after finishing the prerequisite quest then completequest <questid> once you've got the next quest started. The DB questline gets a bit complicated with the dead-drops before the later quests. I'd make a save beforehand in case I needed to go to a 'plan B'. Edited by Striker879
