Consistent crash in Cloud Ruler Temple

Hopefully this is an easy fix.

I am running Oblivion GOTY Edition with no mods, on a recent machine (AMD Phenom II X4 965, 8GB memory, ATO Radeon HD 5770) on Windows 7 64-bit.

I am doing the main quest, and when trying to get Martin to Cloud Ruler Temple, the games always crashes at exactly the same point during Jauffre's speech.

I tried downloading the latest patch and reinstalling Oblivion. No luck. Same crash.

I haven't run around much to see if the crashes happens elsewhere too ... but it is always exactly at the same point, it seems somethign very specific is happening.

I welcome any help you guys can give me!

Hi, i dont know any the popular crashes that vanilla oblivion has, but i really, really would reccomend you to atleast install the unofficial oblivion patch, which fixes a ton of bugs, that were left in the original game.

And then for older games who run on dx9 you should probably get the files for that, aswell as the 3gb enabler. ^^

I have a question: did you fast travel with Martin and Jauffre?

Yes. I had "discovered" the temple before. But I also tried fast-trvelling to bruma instead and walking the rest of the way, with the same end result.

Do you think I should walk all the way from Weynon Priory?

Yes. Fast travelling with Martin and Jauffre is fraught with bugs, not least of which is the double face bug. You should load a save game from before you fast travelled, and then make the journey on horseback.

Still no luck. I did fast travel with Martin from Kvatch to Weyon Priory .. would that also cause the problems ?
