aaroncox
well i just installed a few mods today, and it was running fine until it crashed... out of no where... and i restarted it and now my arms are stretched out, and i'm sunk halfway through the floor... i can't move..and game crashes when i go to menu also... i think my load order is wrong because my main oblivion.esm isn't in the right spot i don't think. but boss isn't helping me fix the problem , and says everything is loaded correctly.. i tried manually moving my files where they need to be and it's locked in place in my data folder. any suggestions? here is a list of my load order Oblivion.esmMart's Monster Mod.esmBetter Cities Resources.esmCM Partners.esmHorseCombatMaster.esmDLCShiveringIsles.espBetter Cities .espNatural_Weather_by_Max_Tael.espNatural_Weather_HDR_by_Max_Tael.espNatural_Habitat_by_Max_Tael.espNatural_Water_by_Max_Tael.espMart's Monster Mod.espMart's Monster Mod - Shivering Isles.espMart's Monster Mod - Additional Enemy NPC Vars.espMart's Monster Mod - Diverse Imperial Armor.espMart's Monster Mod - Hunting & Crafting.espMart's Monster Mod - Looting NPCs & Creatures.espMart's Monster Mod - Durability & Damage.espMart's Monster Mod - No Reavers.espMart's Monster Mod - No Werewolves.espMart's Monster Mod - Dungeons of MMM.espMart's Monster Mod - More Wilderness Life.espMart's Monster Mod - Extra Wounding.espMart's Monster Mod - Farm Animals.espMart's Monster Mod - Diverse WaterLife.espMart's Monster Mod - Slof Horses Complete.espKnights.espMart's Monster Mod - Knights.espMart's Monster Mod - City Defences.espxuldarkforest.espxulStendarrValley.espxulTheHeath.espXulEntiusGorge.espxulFallenleafEverglade.espxulColovianHighlands_EV.espxulChorrolHinterland.espxulBeachesOfCyrodiilLostCoast.espxulBravilBarrowfields.espxulLushWoodlands.espxulAncientYews.espxulAncientRedwoods.espxulCloudtopMountains.espxulArriusCreek.espxulPatch_AY_AC.espxulRollingHills_EV_withoutWheat.espxulPantherRiver.espxulRiverEthe.espxulBrenaRiverRavine.espxulImperialIsle.espxulBlackwoodForest.espxulCheydinhalFalls.espNatural_Vegetation_by_Max_Tael.espCM Partners.espCM Partners Special NPCs.espCM Partners NPC.espCM Partners More NPCs.espCM Partners Marker NPCs.espCM Partners Extra NPCs.espBetter Cities Full.espBetter Cities - No LEYAWIIN Flooding.espBetter Imperial City.espBetter Cities Full FPS Patch.espBetter Imperial City FPS Patch.espMart's Monster Mod - More Passive Wildlife.espBetter Cities - VWD of the IC.espxulAspenWood.espxulSkingradOutskirts.espxulSnowdale.espxulCliffsOfAnvil.espDeadly Reflex 6 - Timed block and 150% damage.espDeadly Reflex 6 - Timed Block and 250% damage.espDeadly Reflex 6 - Timed Block with no damage or durability changes.espDeadlyReflex 6 - Combat Moves.espDRSplatter.espMounted_Spellcasting_Deadly_Reflex_Compatible.esp
Hickory
Your oblivion.esm is in the correct place -- it must always be first. If you are running the game from the launcher, don't, as the data window will mess with the load order. Run BOSS and then run the game from the oblivion.exe. Regarding your stretched character, that is cause by Deadly Reflex 6, which needs a special skeleton.
Smooth613
Regarding your stretched character, that is cause by Deadly Reflex 6, which needs a special skeleton.DR 6 does not need a special skeleton, it works fine with vanilla Oblivion when properly installed. I've thoroughly tested DR 6 BETA since the day of release with a minimal "testing" Load Order, a full LO of 200+ mods, and anything in between. Most problems people report with DR 6 are simple installation errors or mod conflicts, such as an animation replacer.
aaroncox
does my load order appear fine? if so, does anyone have an idea why my guy has streched arms? and can't move? now i can use my weapon and strike..but everytime i press the menu button the game freezes. any suggestions? aaroncox
so just to see...i deactivated all of my mods accept for oblivion.esm and started a new game.. and same problem...arms stretched out and can't move etc....so i'm guessing it's not the mods..but something wrong with the game files? which is weird because i've been playing this game for almost a whole year and never had this problem, [nor did i change/touch any files except mods and the boss files...]
Hickory
, such as an animation replacer. Like DR6.
Smooth613
, such as an animation replacer. Like DR6.DR 6 conflicting with itself? C'mon now Hickory you're better than that. I like how you cherrypicked five words and ignored rest of the substance of the post. Anyway, let's try again. DR 6 does in fact replace animations, that's why if you add another animation replacer on top of DR 6 you will have problems. DR 6 works perfectly fine with the vanilla skeleton. You do not need a "special skeleton". I have no body or skeleton mods whatsoever and have used DR 6 since it's first hour of release. Again, most problems people report with DR 6 are simple installation errors or mod conflicts, such as an animation replacer. If that's not clear I mean installation errors with DR 6, and mod conflicts with DR 6, such as an animation replacer conflicting with DR 6's animations. Hickory
DR 6 conflicting with itself? I never said that, did I?
Smooth613
@Hickory: Then what are you implying by this? (In spoilers to not take any more focus away from the OPs issue.) , such as an animation replacer. Like DR6. Certainly if taken in context with rest of my statement it would seem so, but since you picked only a few words of a statement it's hard to know exactly what you were saying. I said: "Most problems people report with DR 6 are simple installation errors or mod conflicts, such as an animation replacer." Then you quoted: ", such as an animation replacer." and replied "Like DR 6." So when taken in context with the entire statement it certainly implies the following... "Most problems people report with DR 6 are simple installation errors or mod conflicts, such as an animation replacer; like DR 6." See where that brings us back to? I'm not trying to argue but the way you cherry picked a few words and replied it made zero sense. The original point of me stating what I did was to clear up the fact that DR 6 does not need a "special skeleton" to function properly. That's all. [/line]Now back to the OP: How about posting a screenshot of your exact problem for us to visualize? That should help point us in the right direction in order to help resolve the issue. And a few more questions... --What OS are you using, Windows 7, Vista, or XP?--Where did you originally install Oblivion to, what directory?--What directory did you reinstall Oblivion to? If you answered Vista or Windows 7 to question #1, AND answered Program Files to either and/or both questions #2 & #3, it's very likely your issues are related to UAC, Windows security. UAC does not like when protected files or folders, such as those inside Program Files, are altered or modified in anyway. Windows also keeps certain files in the Virtual Store and therefor when you uninstall the game, from Program Files, you are not completely uninstalling it. A result of this is problems can carry over from one installation to another. Below is some more information to help guide you through properly uninstalling and reinstalling Oblivion.Virtual Store – Win 7 & Vista | Windows is basically ghosting your files since you installed to Program Files. UAC doesn't like it when files are altered in anyway and sees this as a security threat. This is why you should always install Oblivion outside of Program Files to a directory such as <drive letter>:\Games\Oblivion. Windows is storing the files in the VirtualStore, located at <drive letter>:\Users\<username>\AppData\VirtualStore.Window 7 Related problems, etc...[/line]Windows 7 Related Issues Are you using Windows 7 or Vista? Did you install Oblivion to the default directory of Program Files? If you answered yes to to both then you are likely experiencing, or will experience problems due to UAC, Windows security. Windows doesn't like it when an application, program, or even the user, attempts to alter files in a protected directory. UAC sees this a potential security threat and treats it as a malicious attack and blocks the action from happening. To prevent this you need to install Oblivion outside the jurisdiction of UAC, to an unprotected directory. A popular and suitable location is <drive letter>:\Games\Oblivion. For information on proper installation I suggest you follow Bben's Reinstall Procedure.
