bigpak
Alright, I have two GTX 980's, a i7 3960x 3.30ghz, and I am extremely confused,I am using ultra, and I get extremely good FPS in the wild etc but if I look in certain areas in solitude or whiterun my fps drops around 60 or below, on average playing I get around 110 FPS as I have it locked there so I don't run into too many physics issues, so I am extremely confused as why it is dropping that low in whiterun when looking in certain areas. I checked with skyrim performance monitor and at max it is using 44% of the GPU. Should it not be using more? I am extremely confused, and when I go to other areas it uses more and I get higher FPS. or at least the percentage goes up under GPU, I am not the most tech savvy person but I do know what I am doing generally, and I have no idea what is causing this, I am running on ultra no vsync and 4x anti aliasing I just ran a uniengine heaven benchmark and I got a score of 4356 Edited July 2, 2015 by bigpak
jones177
Skyrim is a CPU game. With my single GTX 980 & old i7 I can run at 84fps at 4k(3840 X 2160). With ENB at 1440 Skyrim is the most GPU intensive game I play. My single 980 runs at 99% 90% of the time. I am replacing it with a 980 ti oc. Skyrim needs vsync for certain animations to work properly. So running at 60fps should be the goal with this game. If you don't already have one get a 4K or 1440 monitor. Your system is a waist without one. Later
bigpak
I haven't had too many problems with 100 FPS locked actually, no horse carriages flying around, and only the occasional animals flying. That's about the extent of it really. So the reason my GPU usage is not very high is because it doesn't even need to work that hard as it is a very nice GPU? Correct? You didn't really answer my question. Edited July 2, 2015 by bigpak
saurusmaximus
My guess is one of two things are happening: one is you have a lot of scripts firing/a lot of NPC spawing going on and it's taking your system a second to catch up, or less likely you have a bottleneck in your system somewhere that's jamming up. Have you done all the usual tweaks; SKSE, ENBoost, etc?
