kaz030
What are your graphics settings (Low, Medium,, High, etc)? Do you have Bloom or HDR enabled? My current graphics settings are 1920 x 1080 (widescreen) with AA off and HDR is enabled. Would any of these thigns effect OBSE loading properly? In case it's an ini setting, delete your \My Documents\My Games\Oblivion\oblivion.ini (I think that's the XP location, isn't it?). When you have deleted the ini, run the game from OblivionLauncher.exe (it MUST be from the launcher), so that your ini is re-created and your hardware re-detected. You can set your options in the laucher menu.

Also, I just attempted to load OBSE with a different [backup] data folder that I swapped out with my current one to see if It;d effect anything for the hell of it, and also deactivated all of my mods in OBMM , and to my surprise it did indeed load OBSE and I was actually able to start a new game and see everything in the race menue and what not. I tested it just to be sure a second time with the backup data folder and it worked again . BUT then I tried to launch it with the original OblivionLauncher.exe and It went right back to doing the same thing it had before, It loads everytihng fine then when I get to the create a character part everything is black except the race menue. I also noticed my OblivionLauncher version when I check the file properties is version " 1.0.0.1 " . Is the OblivionLauncher.exe file version supposed to differ from the Oblivion.exe file version, which is " 1.2.0.416 " ? I am wondering if I should just re-install oblivion at this point :{
Hickory
I deleted a Oblivion_default.ini though it didnt seem to effect much . I clearly said: "\My Documents\My Games\Oblivion\oblivion.ini ". I never mentioned Oblivion_default.ini, and you must never edit and espectially not delete that file. It is Oblivion's backup of the default ini settings. It may not seem to effect much now, in fact it won't, but it will in the future, if you aver have to rebuild your ini. Seeing as you have effectively created a disaster-in-waiting by deleting the default ini, it seems your best option is an uninstall and complete reinstall.
