New Radio Station

Fallout New Vegas was supposed to be specifically designed to fit in with old Western times, the Ratpack Era, and Futuristic elements all common to Fallout. I was dismayed to find that the default Radio Stations had a pathetic selection of songs, aswell as odd references to the King of Rock n' Roll, Elvis himself without any songs to his name.

 

The aim of this request is to result in a great Radio Station with a choice of happy, jazzy positive songs for Mojave Wastelanders to listen to.

 

A New Radio station with a good selection of songs from these artists would be amazing!

 

-Ratpack

-Sammy Davis Jr

-Frank Sinatra

-Dean Martin

-Elvis

-The Ink Spots

 

and perhaps some bands from Fallout 3 such as Cole Porter, Roy Brown or Bob Crosby.

 

I was severely disappointed that the presence of these artists and their music was almost non-existent except in the names of Quests, and I really hope that someone would be able to design a new Radio Station containing a select choice of fantastic songs from these artists.

 

The Radio would not be required to have voice overs or commentary, as I believe that would simply ruin the realism of it all, as no-one can sound like Three Dawg or loved-up Mister New Vegas.

i think that there is one major issue about such a mod (and believe me, i want such a thing too)

i think that you can't actually upload many songs of these artists, as their music is copyrighted

as far as i know, this is the very reason why we had no songs by Elvis, and only one song by Frank Sinatra

i may be wrong about this, but if i am not, then this may just be the death of such an idea (and like i said, i really want such a thing too)

Yes, I suspected it had something to do do with Copyrighting Claims and Infringement, but you have to admit the songs on Radio New Vegas tend to be very repetitive and become boring pretty quickly.

 

I just hope that someone will be able to use some songs from fantastic artists and bands such as Elvis and Frank Sinatra.

i have listened to many of the songs on New Vegas, and though some were really good (Big Iron is just damn amazing, Heartaches by the number is also an awesome one, etc), the selection is quite poor, they do get old quite fast, and there are some songs i just hate (if i hear Benny Guitar, or whatever this songs is called again, i'm going to take a Fat Man and blow New Vegas away...... :wallbash:)

 

i do know that there are several mods for FO3, that add many new songs to the game, through existing radio stations, or through new ones

so i know that it is possible to add new songs, i'm just not sure about these specific songs

 

Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley, both take a great part of New Vegas, and it's a shame there are barely anything of them in the game

but if there is any chance that their music can be used in the game, i'm going to learn how to do radio stations just for that

 

also, you said that other suggestions should be said

so, as i said, i loved Big Iron, and i think that such songs really fit the game, especially with all the Wild West (more like Wild Waste) references, so good western and country songs could really fit the game well

don't know about artists, as this isn't the music i am familiar with, but i'm sure that good songs of these genres would be quite easy to find (and hopefully used in such a mod)

I am aware of mods that add lots of new songs to the game in FO3 and one or two in New Vegas, but these songs are more old artists rather than the more known and popular like Elvis and Frank Sinatra.

i would assume that the more popular an artist is, the harder it will be to get permission to use it's work

still, i think we need to keep hope, and hope that someone can give a definite answer whether such music can be used, or not

Yes, that's absolutely correct. If you look at Radio Station mods on NewVegasNexus, some people have made attempts to extend the amount of songs played, but if you notice these songs are often older and less famous and well known than the ones we are contemplating.

They do have many modded radio stations with songs already. Try downloading some and see if its what your looking for.

Being a person born in the 50's there are a number of lesser known artists from that time who put out some greats songs. In the rock/r+b genre you have Fats Domino (Blueberry Hill), Chubby Checker (The Twist), The Big Bopper (Chantilly Lace), Coasters (Charlie Brown). And for the country fans you have Eddy Arnold (who has a song in the current music), Chet Atkins, Patsy Cline, Johnny Horton (who also had some songs that crossed over to rock/pop) and some others who's names I can't think of at the moment.

If you want to get some songs like that into the current radio you can find the mp3 versions of them and replace the originals with the songs you want. If some one actually wants to do that PM me and I will find the exact files that need to be changed and explain exactly what you would have to do.

If you are wanting these songs specifically, I can do up a mod that will give you the radio station with the selection of music you want, but I could not upload it. As was stated above, because of the popularity of the artists you mentioned, the copyrights to the music are still in place so it would be illegal to distribute. However, it might be possible to get around this issue if we find other lesser known artists who have remade these songs and use there remakes rather than the originals.

In either case, I can do the mod, it is simply that one way would be illegal and the other a little more time consuming finding the necessary authorizations. Feel free to PM me if you want the private mod.
