Skin on armor mod showing up too light?

so i am very new to modding, but decided to try making an armor mod for my own personal use.

the problem is the skin on the armor is showing up waaay to light, and conflicts visually with my darker skinned character.

i'm not sure what the issue is, though i suspect it may be blender, because i didnt have the issue until putting the mesh through blender, and i dont have an issue with the other armors that i only used nifskope on.

im using blender 2.49 for import/export, and 2.6 for modelling work. i've attached my 2.49 export settings:

edit: it seems creating a darker version of the skin texture file, and going in to nifskope and editing the shader/texture properties use the darker texture, has worked as a quick fix. i'm still interested in learning what was causing this particular armor to be an issue, however. i still believe that the issue is with running it through blender.

in case anyone finds this thread and has the same issue: i know now it was an issue with the alpha channel, and the mapping of the texture to the armor in nifskope. (i know how annoying it can be when someone has the same issue but never posts about how they solved it!)
