Leading A House

I think as much as anything it's simply the logical conclusion to that particular series of quests (Redoran, Telvanni, et al). It's like becoming Horator or the Neravarine... It doesn't really serve any "purpose" that I'm aware of, at least as far as I understand your question, it just means you're done with that particular aspect of the game. Time to move on!

Whoops... I misread your post, thinking you were speaking of Great Houses, not guilds. But even so, my point stands... I think you know what I mean. Guild or Great House, it's the same answer really.

If you join house Telvanni and gain the rank of Master, I think that was it, and get Fast Eddie as your Mouth, you can give him at least one task. Of course you have to provide him with a key and he'll go get you some item from Tel Naga. I didn't have him do it, but if it is still an option I'll give it a try later when I get bored of hunting the sewers in Mournhold.

The only one I know of is if you becaome leader of the Morag Tong. Four new Grandmaster writs become available to you. They earn you quite a bit of money. Unfortunately, as ever with most RPG's, it comes at a time when you have more money than you can cope with. (If only that were true in real life!)
