PaladinRider
EDIT: Mod can be found hereI have been working on a mod (for personal use) to allow the player to take control of the Lucky 38 casino. No idea if this has been done, or if anyone would be interested, I can finalize it and upload. Possible Spoilers The idea stemmed from completing the wild card New Management. After removing House, I wanted to make the Lucky 38 another profitable Casino. So far:The player must acquire robots to be tellersThe player must fix electrical issues to enable the slot machines The casino will be operated in almost 'real time'. That being there are several options from allowing the players to add dealers at the card tables, to upgrading several aspects of the security system of the casino. Every upgrade has an effect, ie. Adding a dealer attracts more gamblers, brings in more revenue. If the player does a not so well job of managing the casino, s/he will see negative cash flow, and will experience issues. The threat of theft at the casino will be present and will adversely affect revenue. Installing security options will lessen the accounts of theft. Most of this has already been implemented. Any ideas you'd like to see fire them my way. Thanks for readingCheers Edited March 15, 2011 by PaladinRider

PaladinRider
You have no idea how long I've been waiting to see a mod like this. You, sir, are my hero. Glad to see some interest! Given the nature of the Lucky 38, the casino will be staffed primarily by robots. However I am not sure yet how the player is to get the robots. Currently the player must activate two deactivated Mr. Handy's somewhere in the Lucky 38. These Mr. Handys will be required for Check-In and selling Lucky 38 Chips. At this point only the slot machines are active. So when the player decides to 'upgrade' and add, say, a Blackjack dealer, where/how should the player go about finding a robot? A fully upgraded casino will eventually require about 10-15 robots. Ideas I had were allowing the player to 'hack' existing robots and essentially steal it for the Lucky 38 (requiring science), having the player 'create' the robot by finding appropriate pieces, or lastly, give the player multiple quests to find suitable robots. If I go the quest route, I will probably look for someone to create the quests.
someguynamedjoe
Will it be compatible with presidential suite upgrades, or a mod like BoE?
PaladinRider
Will it be compatible with presidential suite upgrades, or a mod like BoE? I am not planning on touching the suite, penthouse or anything other than the casino floor (and probably cocktail lounge) as of yet. note that the Cocktail Lounge and Casino are in the same cell IIRC.... I could be wrong. As for BOE, it looks like it modifies the penthouse and suite. If it modifies the casino/Cocktail lounge then there is likely to be issues. I will work for compatibility though. As of yet, I have not made any changes to the cocktail lounge, as my focus is on the gaming floor itself. also, if I decide to go the quest route mentioned above, it is more likely to be conflicts with some mods depending on how that pans out. PaladinRider
Yes the penthouse and Cocktail lounge are in the same cell, I was wrong. Cocktail lounge will not be apart of the first version, though I may integrate it later on. I will have to see about conflicts, etc. I do not know of a suitable program to generate a video.. Is there a link someone can provide? There is still some finalizing to go before the video, but perhaps I can demonstrate what is already present, such as the Lucky 38 Slot machines and it being populated. Some other ideas I've been playing with.. I'd like to see if its possible for the player to adjust the gambling payouts, max jackpot, etc via a terminal. I am not sure yet if this is reasonable. As well, leave some ideas you'd like to see integrated. The more perspectives the better.

There's been quite a few people doing that for mods like yours. But as for ideas? I do have one, that's fairly minor. Since the Lucky 38 and all of its amenities are officially yours once House is dead, I think you should be able to take a squad of Securitrons with you Enclave/NCR Commander style. There's no reason whatsoever to go through the trouble of things like Vertibirds, but maybe talking to Yes Man and asking him for Securitron back-up can make some spawn next to you, that you can order as (unessential) companions. Maybe Yes Man can give you a radio to do it, too. I have other ideas concerning the other casinos (you're the new Mr. House so to speak, so you should have a major impact on them as well), but I'll voice those later. I really don't want to over-burden you before the first version is even released.
PaladinRider
As for robots companions, check out BuildableBotsNV by Wilm0Chimp. It doesn't follow the Wild Card quest specifically, but you can create any kind of robots as companions and it is actually pretty cool. I had wanted to build onto the Indy Vegas idea and actually allow you control over New Vegas, but that would require too much time and energy, especially for one person. Edit: and I want to avoid adding topics/etc to Yes Man for conflict reasons, as well as trying to minimize the amount of voice acting that may be needed.
