  1. Unfortunately I haven't made any progress... I've little motivation and my modding computer is down at the moment. I'm sure I'll pick it up within a week or so. Thanks  The CK has a built in recorder that's easy enough. Just click record, wait a few seconds, and save. I just simply forgot to include these audio clips with the download.
  2. There is no audio yet. I also realized that I'd forgotten to include the blank audio clips. The blank clips will play while the actors are talking and the subtitles will appear for as long as the blank clips play. So by forgetting to include the blank clips, everybody talks too fast, sometimes too fast for the subtitles to appear. I have a hunch that this is why nothing is happening on board the ship because it works for me when I have the blank files.
  3. Going about having the player become the Jarl of the settlement is something that I had to think about. To be honest I'm not entirely satisfied with the way it's happening now. I am working with it and I want it to flow really well. Don't worry though the player will be demonstrating himself/herself to become the jarl in front of the others there. I am aiming for this mod to be for players of level 15+.. It will be pretty tough for lower-level players I think.
  4. When I get a chance I will look into it. If anyone else has the same problems please let me know asap. I tested it on my machine and it works.. If you want you can try going into the ship and activating one of the cots closest to the jail bars. This might progress the quest skipping over the first part. If it works, the ship captain will appear right beside the cot. Talk to him before he walks away.
  5. @skystormer1 those are some great ideas and a few of them are already incorporated to some degree. @killerrj8 that's not good. Is anybody else having this problem? He is supposed to give you the quest which tells you toactivate the bedroll.
  6. First post has been updated. The Proof of concept is available now on both Steam and the Nexus. Be warned, there is no way to return to skyrim without the help of console codes. It is largely incomplete but I'm just looking for some early feedback. Please let me know if it installed without a hitch and any bugs (there are lots!) you may encounter.. I hope everything is included. PaladinRider - The Island NEXUS LINK
  7. Popular hive mind websites like 4chan and Reddit often band together to stuff ballots for things like this. It often results in an unfortunate one-sidedness but it's still an effective 'power-to-the-people' strategy.
  8. No way! I wish I could meet a guy on the development team for this game. It was by far the most played game of my youth. I was totally absorbed. My brother, father and I used to play it non-stop. There's still hundreds of people playing it online on Gameranger but I must warn you they are mostly pretty good! Middle SH is still the choice of settings, but some still play grenwar. I will have to google "Dawn of Fantasy" but I really prefer the more realistic historical type. Always preferred games like EE and Age of Empires over Age of Mythology and the likes. Even Empires: Dawn of Modern World was a decent game! My brother and I play together regularly now. I'm probably going to fail my exams because of it haha. My dad used to play single player but he doesn't anymore.
  9. First off, sorry for reviving an 8 year old thread but if any of you guys played this game online in its heyday, it's still going strong on Gameranger. This was one of my most played games before they dropped the online support. There's still a ton of people playing it online so if you're feeling nostalgic give me a PM and I'll show you how to play it online. PS it has been updated so there are no more glitchers and cheaters.
  10. The island is mountainous and rocky much like Skyrim. The wizards tower will be very cool - probably out on a rocky wharf on the water accessible by a bridge (or magical means). This won't be for a while I'm guessing, at least until the player solves the mystery behind the island. The moving boat is on rails so it won't be drivable but still cool none-the-less. If I put the time in I have no doubt I could make it player-drivable but I'd rather focus on the quest aspect. No doubt someone's making a drivable boat and the dwemer airship. Thanks but I'm still a long way away from voice acting. A very early beta test of the alpha version might soon be available just to give people an idea of where I'm at and to get early criticism.
  11. No. You will end up with potentially 4 houses, starting with a humble tent to a wood house + straw roof and then the castle. The fourth house I haven't planned out yet but I'm thinking of letting you make a big wizards tower for the magicka characters. That's down the line. When you move into your castle you'll have the option to let someone else move into your old house.
  12. Thanks. Making a lot of progress now. So far it's a fairly linear progression but I'm working on giving you more options and industries to build. So far the essentials are done. As it stands a play through will have you delegate tasks, collect wood and build several buildings up to the farm, inn, docks, player house, bowyer and fletcher, logging mill and guard towers. These all require wood to build. The Ra'Gada will make their hostile introduction which may prompt you to build defenses and begin working on training some militiamen. I'm also almost done making ships actually sail in and out of the harbour which I thought looks pretty cool! You'll be able to trade your raw goods to the first merchant man to make coin which you will then circulate through the village. The next few weeks will be pretty busy so I doubt I'll get much done until the end of April. Nearing the end of the school term which means lots of assignments and exams :ohdear:
  13. Or use the search feature? :whistling:
  14. You will notice an effect when choosing which gods your new town will be affiliated with. I'm not sure yet how to do this outside of dialogue though.
  15. Update: much of the village construction is finished. I still need to touch up the interiors though a couple quests are complete, something to occupy t the player while the village builds Resources still need to be implemented. You'll be able to help out and collect wood and food to add to the stockpile I need some ideas as to how to handle the food reserves ie what happens when your city runs out? I'm going to add some generic complaints from the npc a when they're not happy
  16. I wouldn't mind beta testers and the like. When time comes I could use help with finding good voice actors since there will be a lot of NPCs. That won't be for a while though.
  17. I understand. There are also other problems you will encounter. Most interior statics are actually larger than the exterior building. Some by a good amount. Also, many of the interior spaces have beams or other objects that protrude well past the walls. The blocked doorway is probably the tip of the issue. I think the better method is to have the door open into a lit animated space then teleport to the space. But I'm being negative I guess so all the best I think it's a good idea non-the-less.
  18. You are supposed to place your own door in front to teleport you to the interior cell. This is to make it easier because if you placed a door that wasn't lined up properly you would see bright white or it would look off along the edges. You do know that without the door or collision the player wouldn't see the inside of the building, right? You'd be able to see through the building into the other side.
  19. I would recommend actually making the mod if you haven't already. Most of the time when you actually compose the dialogue it's necessary to tweak the dialogue and make some major edits. On paper it's one thing, but it doesn't always translate seamlessly into the mod. Especially if you find you need to add something and the voice actor disappears. That's just me being negative though. Good luck with your mod regardless!
  20. Hello, This is a strange issue, I don't think I've heard of anyone else with it. Could you please post your mod order?
  21. At the moment I've no plans for a peaceful resolution with the natives. They will be inherently hostile and non-english speaking so there will be no communication medium between the two of you. You will be involved with them deeply though I have some interesting plans and ideas regarding the tribe.
  22. If you commented on a thread with the same idea why would you make a new thread of the same idea 10 minutes later?
  23. The only way I was able to get a scene to play was to make a new quest with the scene "Begin on Quest Start". When you wanted to start the scene you had to start the quest.
  24. That's the plan. You'll have some time to kill near the beginning of the mod - you can pick up an axe and cut wood to expedite the building process and help out your fellow man. You can explore the island but without a decent sword and armour you'll find yourself very vulnerable. It's not a very safe island!
