tmohrsy
Hey so, first of all I'm talking about any MOD added companion, whether through NCSS, RRVault or any other method. When I first got Fallout New Vegas, and my first MOD running, I could make that companion take out his/her weapon by taking out my own. Then I could fire them and they would patrol around with their weapon out and stay that way, after I put my weapon away. I have re-installed Falout New Vegas a few times after this and I would still recieve the same effect ie: they would still patrol around with weapons. Now everytime I re-install my game, I start playing my first companion MOD and when they are waiting around somewhere or fired they will just pull out their weapon when I do, AND put it away when I do. I have them fired, and when I take out/put away my weapons they do it too.. It would seem like this is a minor problem, but not when you have 40 companions around an armored base. Anyways everytime I pull out my gun like 40 NPCS pull out their guns and crashes my game pretty much. With a few NPCs its okay but a minor annoyance. So is there some memory cache somewheres? I delete the entire Steam directory in C: Programs every time I re-installed aswell as My Games New Vegas directory. Any solutions or suggestions would be appreciated.. EDIT: The only other MODS I am using is the D3D9 for ATI users, FOMM, and whatever requirements the companions require. csmithsr90
Forty Companions? DANG .... My game gets shaky after about 18, But I don't have your problem either. Have you checked aggression levels? Do you have them guarding? ... ahhhh .... nope can't think of anything else to check.

Most of the companions on this site have an option like "You're Fired." and then that companion will be in Sandbox mode.Lol, I'm lucky to have a pretty nice setup, and I don't run on very high quality so that helps! Thanks for your interest! This is very weird, especially if it continues on re-installations. =( Edited February 16, 2011 by tmohrsy

In the dialogues with your companions you can set their aggression and even on some ask them to guard an area. The more agressive they are, or if they are gaurding their weapons may be drawn. tmohrsy
SOLUTION: I reset my computer to default factory settings, I was super careful with installing everything, I even used older versions of mods and patched them appropriately. Anyways I did so many things to try to fix this I'm not really sure what did. All I know is my face lit-up like a christmas tree this morning..I have a feeling it's NCSS but whatever.. Thank you csmithsr90 for trying to help me get to the root.
