Compatability Problem?

I am playing with tamriel Travellers/CM Partners/Mercenaries and modems City Life and other mods.

 

I thought it would be cute to add recruitable children so they could be around my homes and castles but have hit a snag.

 

I thought the easy solution would be to create a new CMpartner and just use the childs body, but the game crashes the moment I go near the new character. Tried 3 different childrens bodies, modems, improved child races and children of Cyrodil, all crash. It is not an overload issue, I can create a new cm partner and add to game no worries.

 

I even tried creating a partner with the childs body and used the same clothes as modems and then even no clothes and still it crashes the moment i go anywhere near the new character.

 

Thoughts welcome please.

Did you have missing meshes and textures on your children? If you are missing those things, the game can crash when you get anywhere near the area. Perhaps you did some file paths wrong when you were merging/editing/constructing/mastering.

 

CM Partners is very unstable and crashes all the time and has weird bugs. If you cannot find the problem, you might have to try ditching CM partners and building a child companion mod without it. But that would be a last resort.

I don't think it is a missing mesh because my initial attempt was using modems children bodies. They are already in the game and running around. Maybe I should go the other way and try creating more modems children and then changing their dialogue and factions but I don't know enough about that side of it.

Further to last, it seems that there is something missing, I can only make copies of CM partners as in the CM partners mods. Any attempt to make any other NPC's crash, modems children, chocolate elves, anything. Simply making a second copy of a statdard NPC from another mod (apart from CM Partners) crashes as soon as i get anywhere near them.

 

Even with CM partners cannot make anything but vanilla NPC's e.g, can't make a cm partner (say Bree) using anything but standard races as they appeared in the original Oblivion.

 

I can load and use other NPC mods such as Arwen, Chocolate Elves, Modems children in his city mod, and even theough i can run those mods, as soon as i try to create a NPC other than a vanilla NPC race from the original Oblivion, it crashes when I try to get near the new NPC.

 

Am I supposed to have something else loaded in the construction set before I can use anything but a vanilla race? Apart from Oblivion.esm, cm partners, chocolate elves, etc.
