Shaodeus
I want the Merc grunt armor to have this mercenary look but I have no idea how to remove the body armor from Joshua Graham and put it on the Merc Grunt armor, any help would be greatly appreciated
Shaodeus
Downloaded Blender and all that, though I still don't know how to remove the body armour from the rest of the clothes. How do I only select certain parts?
GeorgiaCav
Lots of good info in this thread: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/227460-creating-armor-mashups-in-fallout3-with-blender/ For help in manipulating things in Blender, there are hundreds, maybe thousands of tutorial videos out there. The main thing to remember is that you need to be deleting skeletons every time you import a new armor bit that you're trying to incorporate. When you finish getting the armor looking like you want, you're going to import a skeleton which will be attached to the armor, and then you will export the *skeleton*, which will have the armor attached to it. But if you don't delete the skeletons that the armors are already attached to as you go, it's going to cause conflicts when you try to export. Also, since the armors you're trying to mashup are vanilla assets, they're not going to be separated into individual objects (pants, vest, shirt, etc.) that you can easily snip off; they're going to be big masses of vertices and faces that you're going to have to delete in Edit mode. It just takes practice, and watching a couple of videos. Last thing: if you don't have the individual meshes of the armors you're trying to combine, you need to extract them from the .bsa files in your Data folder -- I personally never extract .bsa's to the Data folder itself. I have a dedicated folder on my desktop for that. You use FOMM's BSA Browser to extract them.
Shaodeus
Well I figured out how to use blender after trial and error, I deleted everything from the Graham armor except for the body armor and when I open the file I made in nifskope I only see the body armor as I wanted it. So how do I copy that file on the merc grunt file? When I try to copy paste it says something about "Nif Versions differ current file version 20.0.0.5 clipboard data version 20.2.0.7 the results will be unpredictable"
Shaodeus
Oh apparently I exported it as a oblivion file, exported it again as a f3 file, I just added the armor to the merc grunt, still have to fix the scale but progress is made!
Shaodeus
Adjusted the armour just fine so there's no clipping, but when I put it into the geck I don't see the body armour anymore, just the normal merc grunt armor Edited July 14, 2015 by Shaodeus
GeorgiaCav
Replacing the grunt outfit with your modified version is apt to be tricky. It's much easier to just create a unique armor for yourself and put it in the game for your own use. If you want to make it a replacer, you're beyond my level of knowledge. It CAN be done, of course, or mods like ADAM or Caesar's New Regime wouldn't work. But adding it to NPC's and merchants is a couple of extra levels of complexity. Shaodeus
I did create a unique armor which I dropped in goodsprings, but the body armour doesn't show up when I equip it, the stats and the names work fine though
GeorgiaCav
Weird. If: 1. Your model looks good and is textured in NifSkope, and2. You created a new form in GECK, changing the biped model to your mesh, and it looked right in the popup window, and3. You placed it in the gameworld and saved your changes as your own plugin, and4. You activated your plugin in FOMM or whatever mod manager you're using, it should be there and work. There are some threads around the boards here about changes made in GECK not appearing in game. Here's one.
