ManehattanProject Posted July 13, 2015 Share Posted July 13, 2015 It's come to my attention that there's an enormous amount of content from Fallout 3 that are stored in the texture and mesh BSAs that were never added to the GECK (especially from the DLCs like Broken Steel, Operation: Anchorage or Mothership Zeta). Does anyone know of a resource mod that adds that content back into the GECK? Note, I'm not talking about taking stuff from Fallout 3 that isn't in New Vegas, only the stuff that's already in the New Vegas BSAs. I'd prefer a mod that I can just merge into my existing master and credit the original person (I know how much of a pain it is to manually add all that stuff in). I'm trying to make GoE require as little in the way of extra mods as possible. Thank you for your time (and sorry for the endless barrage of questions. There are so many questions I can't seem to find good answers for and I know I'll get quality responses from you folks as opposed to the open forums). ManehattanProject Posted July 14, 2015 Author Share Posted July 14, 2015 (edited) I've checked out all of these and most of it is focused around adding back in the cut content specifically from Fallout: New Vegas (with a few exceptions. Littlepip's mod is too expansive to even judge and having that would require Ultimate Edition, something we don't want to require). In fact, most of the Google searches I get this kind of stuff. The only one that I've really found is http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/40007/? and the Mothership Zeta one (the author of which wants to require the mod as a dependency, so I don't really see that as a modder's resource. Just my own perception.) What I'm looking for is content that was originally in Fallout 3 but wasn't used/put in the GECK for Fallout: New Vegas. For instance, the Enclave Crawler at the end of Broken Steel has most of the meshes and textures intact, but they just aren't in the GECK. I'm just trying not to redo work that's already been done. This is mostly for level design purposes, not for weaponry or armor (though I'm looking at those for a later time). mindboggles Posted July 14, 2015 Share Posted July 14, 2015 If you do need to introduce content back yourself, just remember you can include the loose files from the BSA's in your data folder (correct structure of course) and drag and drop them into the Object Window and the GECK will add them using the names of the nifs they came from. All you have to do is check that the settings for each on is correct like On Local Map, etc. So if you had a heap of statics you can drag them from the meshes and drop them into the Objects under Static. Because I just downloaded it and checked the files. They added in the shotgun from Point Lookout, the Alien Blaster from Mothership Zeta and a few other things. (My favorite addition is the P90. Been in love with that SMG since Stargate SG-1). But when I load the files in GECK, there's nothing new under the DLC05, DLC04 or DLC03. I'm likely missing something blatantly obvious. There are lots of mods that restore cut content (ie present in the geck but not used), but I can't find anything focused on restoring completely unused files.
