Gamebreaking speech glitch.

Hello!

My brother is experiencing a huge skyrim glitch. When you speak to anyone, they have only one option: "What are you doing here?". That's it. Nothing else. You cannot complete quests, anything. He has 2 mods installed, SkyUI, and a follower overhaul mod, which I both have also with no errors. He has a bunch of misc workshop things, but I really can't imagine these having a difference. I have one hunch, he used to have immersive speechcraft and uninstalled it, but that's it. Any ideas?

Thanks.

It it is leftover scripts from Immersive Speechcraft, starting a new game or loading one that was made without mods should fix the problem. Workshop mods definitely can make a difference, and as they aren't installed via NMM or another mod manager, they are very difficult to uninstall correctly and may very well be the cause of your problem. If all else fails, you may need to delete all files related to Skyrim and its mods and reinstall. Your brother needs to be more careful about modding. I personally would suggest not using the Workshop for the above mentioned reasons, and keeping a backup of files before installing major or potentially unstable mods. If he doesn't get more careful about modding, the same thing will just happen again.

Thanks for the reply. He has just told me that it was doing this before he uninstalled speechcraft. Regardless of what happened, it must be speechcraft leftovers which is doing it, as you said. I'll do a complete clean for him, could you point me to some kind of guide as to uninstalling skyrim entirely?

Thanks.

A quote from a post on another forum

Try to uninstall skyrim that way:

First do a standard uninstall. (Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features-> Uninstall The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim)

Next, delete your skyrim folder under C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\

Then delete your Skyrim directory under Documents/ My Games

Then under C:\Users\[Your Username]\AppData\Local\ - Delete the Skyrim folder that is in it.

(You should enable to see the hidden files under windows to delete that folder.) HOW: (View - Options - Folder Options - View - Advanced Settings: Show hidden files, folders and drives)

Use Ccleaner after all this (http://www.filehippo...wnload_ccleaner), and install your game again, from scratch. !!!! ( be careful with this, Ccleaner sometimes removes more than is necessary would only use as a last resort personally)

You don't need to uninstall Steam.

And don't load your old saves too. (delete them from your save folder). Start a "fresh" new character.
