Rabbit1251
Does anyone know of, or could make for me, a mod that would mute the incredibly annoying chatter from the PA system while traveling the exteriors of Old World Blues? I searched the Nexus database but found nothing currently posted. Thank you. The Rabbit

devinpatterson
Hmmmm....some nul files could do that (audio that is actually empty/silence). Alternately it should use a activator or NPC (you don't see them, but they are there, all the appliances have something along those lines) and maybe digging into the quest script and just deleting entries might be the fastest. I'll try and take a peek for you. Whoever makes that mod for you, could that person add a feature to skip through the inane babble of the "Brains" and to do all of the quests for the obnoxious personalities in the sink while keeping them mute? Not just the audio, but skip through the dialog completely? BTW I made a mod here in the requests that lets you exit the dialog tree at any time....if that might help. Right now I shudder every time I play Old World Blues-the first time or two the dialogue of the brains was mildly amusing but now it is downright painful to go through all that stuff with them at the beginning just to get started. If the mod to exit the dialogue tree at any time would permit you to get the basic quests without listening to their babble that would be preferable to what it is now. I am also really tired of the sink personalites. I know you can switch them off but you cannot get them to actually do anything (like calibrate the sonic emitter) without turning them back on. I suppose what would be preferable is to skip through the dialogue entirely and certainly would love to go through the school without listening to Dr Boring repeat the same things. I presently have a mod which allows me to skip all DLC slideshows/cutscenes which is really a godsend for OWB. I really dislike that DLC and would love to skip it altogether and the only reason I go through it is to reset traits, get a couple of the unlockable perks and a few of the weapons. At any rate I would be interested to see what sort of thing you can come up with.
Rabbit1251
Thank you, Devinpatterson, for showing an interest in our requests. I know that New Vegas is an old game and that modders have their own agendas and priorities so I appreciate your taking the time to look into this for us. Old World Blues is probably my most favourite DLC. But as things stand now I must play it mostly with the sound off. Scripting? Really? That shows how little I know about this. Anyway, don't trouble yourself too much, but if you can manage it you will have earned the gratitude of this small woodland creature. devinpatterson
Old World Blues is probably my most favourite DLC.Yeah it definitely has a unique personality/flavor. OK try this once you receive the message that the PA system is disabled and you save, you won't have to continue to load the mod.....it's fire and forget. I thought about making a menu so you can enable or disable the PA or a electric box where you can hack it, but it doesn't sound like your interested in turning it back on again. Thenryb
I seem to be unable to find the mod you referred to for exiting dialogue tree. Found it by scrolling through mod requests a page at a time. I was growing old trying to use the search function for this forum. Going to give it a try:)
Rabbit1251
Mr. Devinpatterson, I installed the mod with the Nexus Mod Manager, sorted it with LOOT and did an extensive test run in New Vegas. Unfortunately the PA system still runs in the background both in and out of doors. I thank you graciously for the work that you have done on the mod so far, but it is not working effectively for me unless it may be something that I am doing wrong that I am unaware of. Thank you,The Rabbit

Going to give it a try:)Sure, this one allows you to choose a hotkey to exit dialog (if I remember right) so it would require NVSE. This one uses the E key if you don't or can't use NVSE. OK I'll dig a little deeper into the DLC and see what I can uncover
Thenryb
I use NVSE but I downloaded the E key one which seems to be working just great. Thanks very much. I downloaded and am trying the one you described as allowing you to choose a hotkey to exit dialogue, but it does not do that-it simply adds an option to dialogue "exit dialogue". If there is one you made which allows you to hotkey a dialogue exit, I would love to try that. I want to test it on some of those NPCs who "force greet" you, like Malcolm Holmes, Mr. Holdout, Tomas and Jacklyn. Right now, I use a more violent solution to punish them for their interruptions:)
